What the fuck are we doing in Libya?

ok, not just in a - why are we in a third muslim country ... question.

but also, like seriously, what are we doing there? apparently we're helping some rebels fight ghadafi... but the rebels are likely at least partially linked to al qaida and islamic fundamentalists.... and the fact is, we really dont know who they are....but yet, we threw out what some would call a thawing relationship with gahafi- and now, if we dont remove him, we will have thrown sand in the vagina of a real hornets nest that can come back to bite us over the next decade in a huge variety of ways...like, the pan am bombing that was sponsored by gahadfi in the 80s...

and now, these "Rebels" cant even win- even with our air power and shit.... so its like, unless we go all-in and basically win it for the rebels (who are definately not like the people in egypt, definately not well meaning semi well off students etc... but crazy tribespeople and islamic radicals with links to al qaida)... so unless we fight on the side of these islamic radical dudes, then we leave a pissed off mad man in charge of this country....

or , we go full in, with ground troops and shit, to another fucking war...but one that literally couldnt fucking matter even in the slightest- the 5% of the worlds oil libya pumps was going mostly to china.... wtf does this shit matter to us at all? and yet, now we have the choice to either own the whole conflict and "hope" that these rebels dont totally turn out to be our enemies in disguise, or to let the rebels get belatedly slaughtered after pissing off the dude who ultimately will come out on top and then take revenge on us.

man this was reallly fucking smart obama.

The evidence of the dismantlement of the would be middle class by forcing them into the war machine, is becoming more and more evident...Soon families that aren't in the top 3-5% of wealth will have no choice but to send their kids off(already has been happening for 5+ years in the poorest parts of the country), no jobs, no hope, no future make the military seem awfully great...A generation of government trained shattered 30 somethings are already starting to filter home, and it will only get worse unless we find something domestically to focus on instead of creating entertainment for ourselves to consume to keep us numb...The ones lucky enough to make it home aren't even the ones to worry about, but the generation of children raised by shattered families...

Someone please paint me a picture of a better future, and prove me wrong, please...

that is your response...

don't you try to logically fallacy me, when you don't know anything about the conditions you are trying to rip me about...

you live a very different/privileged life compared to the majority of the country, do not take that for granted by trying to put others down without knowledge of their situation...It just makes you look like a gutless asshole to everyone reading...

March on Washington to "Stop the Bombing of Libya"
Saturday, April 16 • 12 noon at the White House

The war against Libya in historical perspective
From the Berlin Conference of 1884 to the London Conference of 2011
By Brian Becker, National Coordinator of the ANSWER Coalition

The leaders of 14 capitalist powers in Europe plus the United States met for a conference in Berlin 126 years ago to decide how all of Africa’s land and vast resources would be divided as colonies and zones of control among themselves. No Africans were invited to the conference.

The 1884 Conference of Berlin, more than any other single event, became emblematic of the dynamic transformation of capitalism into a system of global imperialism.

By 1902, 90 percent of Africa’s territory was under European control. African self-governance was wiped off the map in most of the continent. Only Ethiopia remained an independent state. Liberia was technically independent too, but it was in fact under the control of the United States.

The so-called “Scramble for Africa” by Britain, France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, the United States and the other capitalist powers was essential for the growth and enrichment of the modern-day capitalist class, which included the owners of the biggest banks, syndicates and monopolies.

Africa was plundered and looted and, as a result, the western capitalists entered the 20th century with the largest fortunes in the history of the human race.

One cannot help but think about the Berlin Conference of 1884 when analyzing the London Conference of 2011 that took place on March 29. It was convened by the same imperialist governments that took part in the 1884 meeting. Africans were invited this time, but the African Union refused to attend. Almost all African nations were absent. Only Tunisia and Morocco sent representatives.

CIA sends teams to Libya; US mulls aid for rebels
The CIA has sent small teams of operatives into Libya and helped rescue a crew member of a U.S. fighter jet that crashed, and the White House said Wednesday it was assessing "all types of assistance" for rebels battling Moammar Gadhafi's troops.

Gadhafi's forces adapt to airstrikes, pound rebels
Moammar Gadhafi's ground forces recaptured a strategic oil town Wednesday and moved within striking distance of another major eastern city, nearly reversing the gains rebels made since international airstrikes began.

i'm not going to leave it alone. what you have said is insulting and offends me. this isn't about arguing who is right, people are actually dying fighting for change in this situation. if you can't respect that then i won't respect you.

you mean people are dying who are fighting with weapons of their own?

oh, you mean all those mass deaths caused by Ghadaffi using his air power that our MSM reported one very single day, while being in the region, yet provided zero proof for?

oh maybe you mean the people fighting who as reported by the NATO commander, have 'As Qaeda' among them, and many foreign fighters who have fought the US in other middle eastern countries?

Sorry capt, J's surprisingly right on this one, he hasn't really shown he's right for the right reasons, though I don't think that matters at this point. Ddc did a great job outlining a few things in his post. This is not a humanitarian mission, its a laughable excuse at best. We don't give a shit, and if the US and France did, we'd be in numerous countries today, and would have been in the past.

We shouldn't be there. We shouldn't be arming them, we should have zero to do with this civil war.

In the suggested model I've started to talk about.... you first post would have been just fine without a clarification or follow up post.

Just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about here.
P&C is a Capital Letter, under the Roman Numeral of FFA... there will be subforums under the FFA banner, with a simple 'Random' thread in the General FFA area.... at the top of the Page...

So it's be like...

I. FFA-Style
A- Random: one thread only
B- P&C- Activism on the serious side of the forums
C- Transcendental Smoke
1. HT
2. SS
D- M&T
E- etc etc.... what ever is appropriate for this side....

II. Serious stuff
A. G&S
1
2
3..... and its sub forums
B. Growing
C. Feedback

Etc...

So just taking a second to give an example.

You're okay posting that face in here imo... so don't sweat.

10 points to whomever can make sense of our stance on Lybia?

TIP: We're not intrested in helping the rebels, thats the official(for the dumb masses) version.

I want to say it has something to do with control of all major sea lanes into and out of the middle east, as a part of a larger plan to control the world's oil supply. Libya is the only country on the coast of the mediterranean that we don't have friendly relations with, at least (if not an actually military base).

I see pretty much the same thing with Iran, but the plan is further along...

Can you say, "Checkmate"?

Are you huffing paint dude? Your post had nothin to do with he original subject and then you start whipping out exact percentages about military demographics, then you act like an asshole
when J says you're being pessimistic. Where in the fuck did you get "3-5%" from?
I know you and Cap don't like the guy but address the topic because clearly it's something that needs to be discussed based on both of your high intensity emotions.
And honestly grieves I agree with your suggestion about the military direction and it's proposed effects on the American middle class but kind of a different story.

And cap canna, if your so passionate about your opinion in opposition to Js why don't you take the minute to type it out
