Montana Governor Vetoes MMJ Repeal
WXXI: Montana governor vetoes medical marijuana repeal (2011-04-13)
Holy shit we have an awesome Governor. The Republicans in this state have apparently forgotten about states' rights and will of the people or just wanted to score easy political points by attacking drugs. Regardless, a whopping 62% of us in this great state voted for medical marijuana seven years ago, and the Republicans wanted to, for the first time ever, overturn an initiative supported by the voters. There's still work to be done though, the Republicans are now pushing for a "rewriting" of the original bill legalizing and regulating MMJ that would essentially cripple the MMJ industry here, basically it's a repeal in all but name. But today at least we can rest easy. I can't remember the last time I admired a politician. Good on you Brian.

Honestly man it is all politics. Brian Schweitzer is a democrat in name only, he supports gun rights and has attacked Obama for outsourcing Montana jobs to Asia. I think the Republican influx after this last election has confused Montana Republicans who have been making error after error trying to find an issue that will stick with Montanans to defeat Schweitzer in the next election. They failed on marijuana, they failed on stripping poor mothers from WIC benefits, and they failed on bankrupting Planned Parenthood. Schweitzer vetoed 17 bullshit bills in one single day. If only our country's Senate shared the audacity of Montana's Governor.

Montana
“Democratic Gov. Brian Schweitzer [obtained] a new cattle brand from the state livestock agency that reads ‘VETO.’ A branding iron is being made. Ain’t nobody in the history of Montana has had so many danged ornery critters that needed branding, he said.” Governor Vetoes Repeal of Medical Marijuana Law By Stephen Dockery CN Source: Associated Press April 13, 2011 Helena, Mont. Gov. Brian Schweitzer vetoed a bill Wednesday that would have repealed Montana's voter-approved medical marijuana law, saying it would have gone against the will of the people. That left House and Senate conferees one last gasp at coming up with a compromise proposal to tighten regulation of the booming industry with eight working days left in the session. Read More...
