california approves law to force schools to teach about gay history...
i really dont want to be intolerant. i really dont.
but wtf. since when did a persons sexual orientation have anything to do with their acomplishements and discoveries...etc. "ok kids, today we're going to learn about thomas edison, he was a heterosexual who invented the lightbulb".... like... tolerance and kindness and empathy aside, is it really necessary to force schools to start teaching kids (at who knows what age) about specific acomplishments of homosexuals. i mean we all know george washington carver was a black man who invented peanut butter but do we really need to teach little kids about the gay guy who invented extra large...um...yea... i didnt want this to be offensive so il leave it at that. "bill gates started the biggest software company in the world children, well, the biggest heterosexual software company in the world... now can anyone tell me what gay person started the biggest homosexual founded business in the country? better study up , its gonna be on your next pop quiz" ...whatever your feelings about this, it sure doesnt seem very related to the core issues that schools have to deal with - namely EDUCATING children. Wow, two thirds of the article talks about two bills in front of Governor Moonbeam, one that would allow illegals to get public financial aid for higher education...
I don't see it flying. However the other one is to make it legal to privately fund the undocumented (with interest I'm sure) and this one looks like shit thru a goose. Why not, bankers have bled the citizenry dry for schoolin' and fancy book learnin' so now they need a new crop of 'customers' to welcome to the pot. And it's the gay thing that steams you. Interesting.

I'm pretty sure gay history would entail teaching about the stonewall riots and shit like that. I could be completely wrong, but that seems logical.

the reason this is fucking stupid is because schools should teach kids to read write, do math, play music, and to focus their creativity in a way beneficial to their path. schools should not comment on any of this. gay history is a part of history. just fucking teach history without bringing out focuses on strange things that will probably confuse the fucking kids more than enlighten them. literally they may confuse a few of them and ruin lives.
our tax dollars at work... sad.

... i think it was to be more along the lines of showing that gay people acomplish things too.
but if they really do start teaching about the gay rights movement the way they teach about the civil rights movement, i see even more problems. the fact is that some people dont think homosexuality is good. so like this continued push to shove it in our faces is pretty arrogant. its one thing to be tolerant of all people and accepting of all peoples life choices as long as they dont infringe upon your rights... its another thing to force by legislation things that many people believe just arent right to be like fundamentally changed. now we cant teach our kids that marriage is meant for a man and a woman and pretty soon the stonewall riots and shit will be taught as like the "new civil rights". i wish there was a middle ground here. I think its wrong, but i dont want to hurt anybody, but i also think i should have the right to teach my kids what i think. what do i do? i see the parallels to school segregation and civil rights, i understand what you guys are saying.... but like, ultimately, a black man and a black woman can do everything a white man and a white woman can.... but two dudes cant. thats not my opinion. |

Hey man, Gov. Moonbeam is a job creator! Cut down some trees, blend up some soy based ink, shit there's even a farm job or two in there, Republicans love farms man. Gov. Book binding is a dying art and now we need a bunch of new books! Saving historic jobs! An American tradition! Trucking and shipping and picking up and recycling and the art work and the writing and and and... Fuck man, what the fuck were we talking about? Oh, yeah. I guess it all depends on how you look at things.

what can I say, but that shit wouldn't fly in PA or most states.
To my knowledge no subjects taught in schools today, deliberately ignore important/accomplished people just because of their sexual preferance. And to force students to learn about unaccomplished people just because they are homosexual is absurd. There was an issue I opposed in pa school systems (that didn't last long) to force students to learn spanish as a required second language. I and several hundred thousand pennsylvanians called bullshit on this proposal, and it soon died. If californians choose to use their limited "state" funding to require "gay" education, I have no problem with it. However, don't expect any federal money to pay for it. I'd rather have students learn why this country is so economically f*cked up. Last edited by Roach; 07-19-2011 at 10:53 PM. |

not really.
Being better at math, science, english, biology, and perhaps IT, makes one more competative in America's marketplace. Psychology and sociology would be nice additions to the current 12 year teaching program. I had to take 2 years of a language (french), also as a prerequsite for college, and have forgotten all but a few basic phrases. (It's not used much in engineering/american manufacturing) ![]() And consider it to have been a total waste of time. America is 13th in educational level of the top countries. Perhaps this is why. |

no it really does,(those who speak a second language earn more and are in higher demand then those who don't..that's a fact) Germany's a perfect example..but their systems different, they don't spend 12 years teaching people the same shit year after year

I don't live in germany, as I stated . If you plan to work overseas , fine, study that language in college... on your own dollar.
Americans used to speak, and understand english fairly well.
