Could legal pot give Big Pharma a much-needed high?

I think this would be cause for revolt!

But to grow pot and put organic THC and CBD in pills, the DEA to would need to move organic THC down from Schedule I to the far less restrictive Schedule III, where synthetic THC Marinol currently resides.

What a load of horse shit. THC from nature is super bad, but THC made by a pharm company is okay. Well, God, I guess that's a big "Fuck YOU!" to You from the U.S. Government.

well, I was reading an article the otheer day...

two actually.

1.One said big pharma is going to have problems in another year or so when a bunch of their higher priced perscription drugs will be allowed to go generic .

Updated: Jul 27, 2011 4:50 PM EDT

Dozens of popular brand name drugs are going generic in the next few years. It's great news for patients looking for lower prices, but not so good for drug companies like Eli Lilly.

The new generic forms hitting the market will bring patients a projected $28 billion in drug cost savings in next year alone. More than 20 brand-name blockbuster pills for chronic conditions will lose their patents in the next 14 months.

Experts say generic competition drops drug prices by 20 percent initially and over time, as much as 80 percent off current prices. Pharmacists say the generics are just as good as the brand name counterparts.

"It's not like it was in 1980 where there was questions and doctors could see a big difference," said TJ Depaola, pharmacist.

Some of the big name drugs losing patents in the next year include Lexapro, Avandia, and Plavix. Eli Lilly's biggest seller, the schizophrenia drug Zyprexa, will lose its patent this October.

Xalatan® $520 (all records from retail sales in 2009...numbers represent millions)

Aromasin® $129

Femara® $462

Concerta® $1,327

Nasacort AQ® $272

Levaquin® $1,633

Uroxatral® $196

Anzemet® $8

Zyprexa® $1,968
Zyprexa®Zydis $156

Malarone® $60

Solodyn® $588

Lipitor® $6,054

Caduet® $362

Tazorac® $111

Combivir® $280

Clarinex® Clarinex: $217
Clarinex-D® $39

Lexapro®2 $2,557

Seroquel® $3,483

all going generic by march 2012.

Merck is out this morning with earnings, and they’re saying that they’re going to cut at least 12% of their work force over the next four years. That’s up to 13,000 jobs, and the word is that 35 to 40% of those cuts will be in the US.

Pharma layoffs: 300K in 10 years

Every pharma-watcher knows that layoffs have been a near-constant shadow over the industry for years. But thanks to Challenger, Gray & Christmas, we can now measure that shadow: Pharma firms have cut 297,650 jobs since 2000, the consulting firm figures. As Forbes points out, that's about the combined head count at Big Pharma's three largest drugmakers, Pfizer, Merck and GlaxoSmithKline.

Forbes also points out that, despite the layoffs, the industry's total employment count hasn't fallen dramatically. Some of the laid-off workers probably found work within the industry, and some were probably laid off more than once.

But as the figures show, the number of layoffs per year has grown steadily since 2006, as drugmakers have restructured and refocused to prepare for the patent cliff. And with that patent cliff comes a sea change, as most of the blockbuster business goes out with the tide, and expensive drugs for targeted groups of patients come in.

Cannabis is legal for some Individuals

Not just the IND patients. Obombo hasn't done a damn thing he hasn't had the authority to do. Not even close to the fervor of Boosh and McCaffrey with Klintoon. The Supremes ruled in Gonzo v Raich that any exchange, for profit or free was considered Commerce and under the jurisdiction of the Feds. So anything sold is still illegal under the bogus CSA. The only thing the Feds have done concerning re-scheduling is individual cannabinoids not the whole plant bud. They also have patents on them and a monopoly on supply if sublingual ever gets through the FDA. Individuals in states with initiatives legalizing the use are not under Obombo or the DEA since it is not Commerce so it is a 10th amendment states right issue that Obombo hasn't tried to enforce. California and Alaska looks to be the only two states with a Constitution written for the rights of the citizens and the remaining 16 states and district have politicians initiatives declaring medicinal cannabis and various restrictions. California prop 215 states for anyone for any reason and Alaska has declared small amounts legal for personal use. Feds as a rule of thumb see anything over 99 plants as Commerce or more than an individual could perceivably consume. So Buyers Clubs with or without state initiatives are and will stay prohibited until the CSA is overturned at least concerning Ganja and Hemp. The Feds won't waste funds on individuals in non legal states either. The state LEO's can and they can be worse than the Feds, as well as the jails. Just another embarrassment making all Americans seem like brutal fools for putting up with it let alone the dung worriers and Teabog dippies pushing it. The Ganjawar has more to do with redistributing tax money than saveding the kidlets. Scum of the Earth Production.

Is The DEA Legalizing THC?
So, in other words, if a pharmaceutical product contains THC extracted from the marijuana plant, that would be a legal commodity. But if you or I possessed THC extracted from the marijuana plant, that would remain an illegal commodity.

Wait, it gets even more absurd.

Since the cannabis plant itself will remain illegal under federal law, then from whom precisely could Big Pharma legally obtain their soon-to-be legal THC extracts? There’s only one answer: The federal government’s lone legally licensed marijuana cultivator, The University of Mississippi at Oxford, which already has the licensing agreements with the pharmaceutical industry in hand.

Ya don't need a weatherman to see which way this wind blows.

Con Flicts of Interest Bush Barthwell & Bayer

Quote:
Vested Ignorance will always lie and cheat to maintain their dysfunctional profits. If left to the Politikan ConPromisers, as I suspect. The AMA would lower it to a schedule#2 and permit Big Pharma to control it. Barthy and Bayer and Boosh’s Ely Lilly won’t give up profits to Homegrown. The only solution is to overturn the Controlled Substance Act for the bold face lie it is
DdC November 28, 2009

Like using Barthwell/Bayers Sativex by lowering buds to a schedule#2 narcotic. Leaving Pot, Hemp and RxGanja prohibited for future profit and keeping cannabis products off the market shelf.
DdC October 31, 2010

Lowering to a schedule#2 will only open sublingual sprays like satevex and bayer. Leaving Hemp, RxGanja and Ganja outlawed. Prohibition is a lie agreed upon. Why perpetuate it or ConPromise on truth?

thats what i was going to touch on rev, the dea and all their fuckery moving thc to sIII and leaving all the other cannibaniods as well as the plant itself as sI so they can fill the prisons and pay innocent people to make riot gear for the police at .23$/hr. it's sick and it's true.

i just notice i misspelled cannabinoids^ and the spell check has no suggestions. it's shit like this that screams at me that it is like that for a reason.
