Obviously The republican's are dangerous for the country. Their incapability to make decisions that directly affect the corporatocracy currently in power in America makes them enemies to the general population. The ripple effect can easily bring down the entire global economy. The republican party desperately needs to be voted out of control, To save America, and possibly the world.

its time to end both of the wars! we are spending way to much money in them instead we should spend this money helping our wounded soldiers!! and please please lets stop helping other countries we got a lot of homeless people, jobless people and hungry people lets help our people first!!!!! OBAMA help us Americans first!!!!!

Projected cuts to spending that might create jobs in a demented effort to protect tax cuts that have not created any jobs seems to make investors worried about the American economy.

Who could have guessed? Almost every economist of any note - that's who. Cuts during a recession prolong the recession and could lead to a depression!!!!

Uh, Robert. Your numbers sound good, but you about "to good to be true"
It goes millions, then BILLIONS, then Trillons. If you save 500 million a year (533,240,000) then in 4 years you have saved 2 BILLION dollars.
In 10 years, you have saved 5 BILLION dollars.
5 Billion in 10 years--- compared to 4.4 billion that Bank of UNAmerica paid their fat PIGS in 2010 (1 year ALONE).

So much for retiring at 66. I guess the 401K program was one of the greatest scams ever contrived by big business and the government. And now they are even trying to sell this crap to the military. As usual, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Unfortunately, I don't think it will ever end until we have another revolution in this country.

I am not saying it is not a big hit. It is. However, keep in mind that about 185 points of that is the value of the dollar going up and the market is re-appraised in the new dollar's value. Every body goes nuts over gold and silver movement. A big chunk of that daily movement is the change in the value of the dollar.
There is a bright side for those of us not exporting, the dollar gained today vs almost every currency.
The cut in spending wasn't a cut in spending. It was a cut in the increase in spending. We are still going to spend ourselves into oblivion. We just made a token gesture. A balanced budget and a handful of very tuff years are the only things that would have saved us.

I'm not sure why any liberals are complaining. Isn't it all about the destruction of Wall Street? Don't you want to stick it to the "Fat Cats"? I thought you hate them. Isn't this exactly what you want?

Slipping back into a recession? Really? Ah the darling media don't you love the way they disort everything...You can even find the truth in a newspaper anymore...just the conservative news and the liberal news...

How many millions were thrown away today - only to try to insure that President Obama is not reelected? How sad....
Thank you Tea Party, McConnell, Cantor, and Boehner.
Thank you.

You have to love the writers first two major reasons for the sell off. "recession worries and doubt that the Federal Gov will intercede" CAN YOU SAY STIMULUS! I am sure all smart traders want us to build more US debt. What and idiot. Typical media bias....

I know some people may not like this, but honestly it's needed. PE is out of whack, prices are out of whack and the market is currently ruled by rampant gambling and speculation. It needs a full blown reset to clean out the trash. I only hope when we get down to 6k again, that we don't refill it up with more junk.
But there is the other side. I'm sure the FED is sweating bullets right now and if this continues they will be announcing QE3 on Saturday.

You know I get a chuckle every time someone comes on here and blames Liberals or democrats for the countries problems. I myself consider myself either a conservative democrat, or a centrist. When I was younger, of course I was a bit more liberal. Cold hard reality is the stock market needs to have much less effect on what a company does, unfortunately thats not the case these days as more companies are worried about pandering to share holders than they are to pleasing or gaining customers. What that leads to of course is cutting back on employee's, usually while the high management and directors of the company make more or at least stay the same.

Unfortunately, it's the workforce of this country that also drives the economy. The fewer people there are working, or finding jobs, the fewer people there are to consume products other than the bare necessities. The other side of this is that, the fewer people there are working, the fewer people there are paying taxes. Which, is what causes the kinds of budget problems we're seeing.

Honestly neither party is doing a dang thing to fix the problem other than collecting lobby money for themselves to pocket. People seem to have forgotten, that about 18-19 years ago, it was a "liberal" Democrat president that passed the original balanced budget amendment that had the government producing a surplus that was being used to pad social security, and other programs like improved schooling.

Black or Silver

By Ross Van Voast

Black or Silver

That’s the decision

He must look Rich

Wealth is his Vision.

Jag or Benz but nothing too old

He wants his friends to envy his gold.

Rolex, Diamonds, Louis Vaton

He’s always putting his fake smile on.

“Charge it” he says. “I’ll worry about it later.”

Debt is the demon

The great wallet invader.

Then the smile turns upside down.

Nightmare’s of the number in the bank account.

Did it go up or down? Is the stock arrow green or red?

Late nights in the office while the family’s in bed.

Soon the kids are all grown up

Where did time fly?

Every sport game was missed

All precious memories died.

House foreclosed and black jag repoed

Why did he have to impress all those people

Anger, loss, pain and strife

Greed was the thief that stole his whole life.

Finally this country is doing what it needs before it can get back on track and start growing again. We must have a

or several selloffs in the market before out country can begin again. Same as 1999-2001. Sit tight this really is a good sign. Really!
