Mainstream Media Poll:

In another thread there was some debate over Fox News and what is and is not 'Mainstream' news.

So as requested, here is a poll with several well known media sources.
Pardon if I forgot any...

So please add your comments if you check the 'Other' Box.

Thanks

Eh honestly all of those are mainstream media IMO, But like the first half arent even news outlets anymore. They are strictly politics and it is disgusting.

I checked off the first 7 as mainstream media really based on the fact that so much goes on in the world yet these news outlets focus mainly on politics.

BBC aint to bad in that in at least posts articles about shit happening around the world, but still definitely mainstream media.

Those are all mainstream, the problem is that some are not reputable sources.

This poll is meant to be half rhetorical imo.

You've lost me on how it's rhetorical.

As far as I can tell those are all mainstream outlets.

Hey Sage, you left out the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and USA Today, The AP, Reuters etc...don't need to be televised to be mainstream.

This thread is retarded btw.

Because they are... these were just the examples given to 'mainstream' the argument being that 'Fox' was not...

For the sake of simplicity, I just picked out all the examples of you gave and left out the printed/text press. I agree with you about that point, but I hope this explains why I chose the options I did.

And Yes... the idea of making a poll to define the obvious is stupid.

But if was YOUR suggestion actually....

Just saying dude... you wanted the poll
I'm just asking what folks think are mainstream.

I KNOW the answer already, this is just an elaborate way getting to the point.

Why is it that the "spaced" mood shows a shadow on the sun as the planet passes in front of it? There would be no shadow on the surface of the sun. That's just ludicrous!

I guess you could wonder if this is supposed to be our solar system or not if you open up that can of worms....

Maybe it's a solar system with one planet and two suns?

The stars would orbit their common centre of mass and the planet would orbit that system. Still doesn't work. Also, the planet would likely be more than 100AU away.

I can never make up my mind, so why would I impose that on you?

I chose them all... but I have to agree... Ally J is the more 'out the box' of the mainstream.

It's 'out' I think based mostly on the fact that it's a Middle Eastern centric station.

I REALLY enjoy 'Listening Post' of all their shows.

They have TONS of good ones though.

Maybe not mainstream in America, but in terms of sheer viewership it's definitely mainstream.

Al Jazeera is most certainly mainstream.

Not that that's a bad thing, but they have their own biases too. However their biases often seem to correlate with my own so I enjoy them.

I think the way Al Jazeera were funded by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa the Emir of Qatar (it's all there in wiki) has led to an independent editorial. While they report from a middle eastern point of view they don't seem biased for or against the west particularly...

They have had a lot of footage from the middle east not covered by western stations, this is what makes them seem non mainstream to me I guess.

I think if they are bias on the West it at least seems to swing back and forth and doesn't just stay on one side, making it seem a little more like news with a spectrum instead of indoctrination nation news.
