The fact that he lacks the GOP's support--is that necessarily a bad thing?? He's not socially conservate in the least--drug war, gay marriage, etc, the stupid things hardcore repubs get hung up on.

He's never been given the chance to walk to the walk. He's oonsistent though.

I'm not at all on the same page with him on all his fiscal conservative views, but I think he's the straightest talker out there and I'd be willing to give him a shot.

That doesn't even make sense. He's a candidate, that's all he can do is talk about the issues. He'd have to get elected before we'd know if he'd be "walking the walk".

The reason obomba lacks support from his own party is becuse he has continued bush's policies.

Besides, from what I know as a politician he has walked the walk, from his his voting record. Someone show me where I'm wrong, I'm willing to be corrected on this.

For what it's worth to reply on this topic,

I think 'No Child Left Behind' was the worst man....
Right or Wrong, in the first place,
It's just a Federal Law, with hardly any follow up funding...
Just supervision and Lording over....

It's the Feds spending the States money basically.

If they are going to say 'do this' there ought to be some help to the States,
Or checking with the States to see if they can even DO what they are 'supposed to', in the first place.

It'd be ideal for States to manage their own affairs....
If it looked more 'Canadian'
Which, is to say, it gives MUCH more autonomy to the Province/State.

In that scenario the mission of the Dept of Ed, which is:

"To promote student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness by fostering educational excellence and ensuring equal access"

, which isn't so bad,

Could simply be the Feds as a checks/balances on making sure schools are covering certain skills for 'preparedness' in the World, and making sure there is no barriers or inequality in it's distribution, and nothing else.

In States that are 'Poorer' I also think it'd be nice to make the 'safety net' so that there is at least a minimum education and funding to do so.

Ideally, I'd like the States to govern themselves in a more Canadian fashion autonomously speaking and the Fed, over all, protects certain rights.

IE. The Feds say 'Every Canadian has the right to Healthcare which makes the whole country Healthier and Stable',
And the Provinces, which are OK with the 'right being granted' figure out how to institute the policy, being from taxes or a direct payment for coverage (which btw is SERIOUSLY inexpensive)

I'e neer been impressed with the Repubs. At times, like now, I'm blown away at their lameness. But the exception is Ron Paul. Libertarianism worries me somewhat, but with checks and balances in congress I think I would support the guy. He's the most straight up, principled politicitian I'e seen in my lifetime. Can anyone gie me some mateirial to read that might balance my high esteem of the guy?

Also, Q number 2--why is the media keeping him in the blind spot???
You're right, he is one of the most principled politicians of our time.

Unfortunately, he is removed from reality.
