Is anyone even paying attention to this payroll cut bulshit?
OK, now I seriously dont even want to wade into the specifics all that much - because everybody fucking knows that either party, any person, they are all a bunch of shmucks, and the only question is which is the worst, and which is doing the absolute most horrible things and which are doing the less horrible but still horrible things.
But this payroll tax cut shit ? has anybody even heard about this? so on the sunday news programs, they were basically trying to explain it....the plan that the senate passed- the great idea supposedly of the senate- was to extend the payroll tax cut for 2 months (which is like maybe a hundred bucks per paycheck for 2 months for people with average wages)..... and to do that- they were going to change the rules for mortgages and charge new fees - that would take... 10 YEARS TO PAY BACK... 2 months of $100/per paycheck = 10 years of new fees... Thats fucking retarded! ok... it really, truly is, fucking retarded. It figures that the only shit that could pass the senate with 80 votes is something THAT stupid....you can almost hear the lawmakers going " man i dont fucking care i just wanna be home for christmas"... so boehner basically did nothing more than listen to the public reaction to this absurdity...and then tell his guys that it probably wasnt a smart thing to rubber stamp the senate... cue the obama and liberal mainstream media taglines "REpublicans block payroll tax cut" (not "republicans prevent a new 10 year long fee for homeowners", but the first part of it, conveniently lying by ommission) .... so yea thats about all the time this stupid charade is worth.... but wtf... our government is like a mentally retarded person at this point... and the media is like a fig leaf for some dude with tourettes to try to make people think he isnt actually totally insane.

that's tied to unemployment benefits extensions, obama wants to extend them, republicans want to end them. that's tied to the canada to texas oil pipeline line spending, omaba wants to delay it, republicans want to build it now.

theoretically, obama's willing to build the pipeline now(he certainly won't veto it, because they, congress, can't really force him to)
Repulicans want to extend it for longer(12 months vs. 2 months) the republican house caucus is totally dysfunctional which is good news for the democrats politically, bad news for everyone else..especially republicans

$100 bucks per paycheck sounds a little steep for "average wages". I'm somewhere around average and I'd hate to think my paycheck will be lite $100 if the the tax break expires. And I don't recall getting a boost of $100 in my paycheck with ANY kind of tax break EVER. Maybe our definition of average differs.

while i don't mind paying a grand less in taxes to Uncle Sam, doesn't this tax cut hurt social security? i mean the politics of this is great, i'm just not sure it's good policy
