I'd love for Sage and some of you and I, to go to Africa on a massive desalinization plant construction program. Maybe get Tommy Chong and OctoMom, and BradJolina et al, and Woody and Willy and tax money (piles of tax money) . Some Microsoft backing.

yea it could work.

We would develop the one international source for medical hashish.
And organic vegetables. That's correct. Africa will be known for food production, not resource plundering.

we could even get some old members to back this.

maybe.

Careful what you wish for

Some things are but a wish away ,

lol

I read it as I was good at derailing threads. I mean, I know I do it from time to time; but I was wondering why I was being singled out for it.

That's the hard part. Deductions, types of income, etc are why rich people are so good at cheating on their taxes. They know how to get around it.

With a Flat Tax, the bond market would be jeopardized. The bond market is a source of very stable income that adds up quickly when millions of dollars are considered for an investor. When you consider the amount of money in the bond market far surpasses that of the Stock Market, we're talking about Trillions of dollars that generate tax free or reduced tax income. He who issues, taxes. Fed Bonds are State exempt. State and municipal bonds are sometimes completely tax exempt.

Flat 15% tax would also defeat the purpose of partnerships which allows you to depreciate your investment and/or assets, equipment, etc.

It would also eliminate "unrealized gains" and "carried interest".
For it to work, we'd have to restructure a lot of things (not gonna happen). We'd have to change how we pay for stuff, eliminate other stuff, but most importantly clearly define income. There are simple ways to make the few rich elite pay up, even if it's 'unfair' to them. I'd basically have a policy where we just confiscate rich people's money who didn't rightfully earn it. I would decide who we shake down. The IRS would be like the strong arm section of the mafia if I were ruler.
