Monsanto Sucks... I approve this message...

"If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth,
man would have no more than four years to live."

~ Albert Einstein

Latest buzz on bee decline: Maybe it's pesticides

A common class of pesticide is causing problems for honeybees and bumblebees, important species already in trouble, two studies suggest.

"Unique among all God's creatures,
only the honeybee improves the environment
and preys not on any other species." ~ Royden Brown

Toxic Drift: Monsanto and the Drug War in Colombia

Monsanto Hid Decades Of Pollution
ANNISTON, Ala. -- On the west side of Anniston, the poor side of Anniston, the people ate dirt. They called it "Alabama clay" and cooked it for extra flavor. They also grew berries in their gardens, raised hogs in their back yards, caught bass in the murky streams where their children swam and played and were baptized. They didn't know their dirt and yards and bass and kids -- along with the acrid air they breathed -- were all contaminated with chemicals. They didn't know they lived in one of the most polluted patches of America.

Now they know. They also know that for nearly 40 years, while producing the now-banned industrial coolants known as PCBs at a local factory, Monsanto Co. routinely discharged toxic waste into a west Anniston creek and dumped millions of pounds of PCBs into oozing open-pit landfills. And thousands of pages of Monsanto documents -- many emblazoned with warnings such as "CONFIDENTIAL: Read and Destroy" -- show that for decades, the corporate giant concealed what it did and what it knew.

Wall street's Spontaneous Abortionists

Pro Life? Not even anti abortion
The study found strong evidence that a woman's exposure to pesticides in the three months prior to conception or in the month of conception significantly increased her risk of spontaneous abortion. Switching cotton fields to hemp fields would improve: the quality of our soil, the durability of our clothes, the safety of our ground source water, the quality of our air, and the preservation of forests cut for paper (not to mention saving hundreds of thousands of lives prematurely ended by disease caused by pollution) These pesticides wash into streams and rivers, destroying eco-systems and poisoning human water supplies. Today the water supplies of many large cities are contaminated. Many of the vegetables we eat and clothes we wear contain pesticide residues. Hemp is a perfect sustainable raw material for thousands of products. Textiles, cosmetics, building materials, fuel and food can all be made from hemp.

just sayin, eating honey aint really 'supporting the bees'. kinda the opposite in most cases.

if you want to help them be vocal against monoculture farming and the overuse of fertilizers and pesticides.

Bee Colonies fed High Fructose Corn Syrup because it's CHEAPER

from nora
Rather than let the bees eat their own food, created by these insects' own industrious effort, the beekeepers are SUBSTITUTING HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP (aln artificia laboratory altered sugar that does NOT occur normally/naturally in the whole wide world) -- AND the beekeepers wonder for YEARS now why their bees are too weak to survive the stress of travel, exposure to pesticides, and disease/fungal/parasite attacks? Who are they kidding? They put their profits first, obviously. This American Corporate Culture -- based on profiteering and measuring success by profit alone -- is so sick and twisted it is willing to destroy the bees that pollinate our food. continued @ smithsonianmag
Probably need to start supplimenting the bees feed with hemp seed oil. I've helped keep patients from bladder infection antibiotics with the omega 3. Maybe mixed with honey? DdC
Cannabis Seeds:
The Most Nutritionally Complete Food on the Planet

High on Hemp
Hemp is environmentally friendly crop that doesn't require massive applications of fertizilers and pesticides to thrive. It doesn't deplete the land and grows under adverse conditions.
"Environmentally, hemp is a safer crop to grow than cotton. Cotton is a soil-damaging crop and needs a great deal of fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides."
~ Brian S. Julin, 1994,
"Frequently Asked Questions about Cannabis Hemp"
"Cotton crops in the USA occupy 1% of the country's farmland but use 50% of all pesticides."

Bayer has been killing bees!
Bees, Weed and HIV
Hemplastic
or Fossil Fools Crud
As if our health is measured against their profits as to what is considered good or what is considered bad. Hemp has more cellulose than trees and none of the sulfur fossil fools spew. Hemp plastic (cellophane) biodegrades and yet it has been banned for farmers to grow. Congress would rather import OPEC for our eventual trash-bags, packaging and bottles. Forming islands in the oceans. I'd bet they'd put up a shed and call it a bank so more can dodge taxes as they do in the Caymans. As they subsidize the crude oil plastic that lasts pretty near forever. I don't believe this human species intends to stay here very long. I'm actually surprised sometimes that we've lasted this long.
from another board
lt's very informative reading from Smithsonian, a very credible source. It sounds like they are reporting on another potential piece of the multi-faceted puzzle that is contributing to the weakening and collapse of bee colonies.

The article could have gone one step further and pointed out the link between Genetically Modified BT Corn and the High Fructose Corn Syrup the Bees are being fed.

I would hope to see some independent research done on the bee colony sensitivities to Botulinum toxin (BT). But it is unlikely that will happen in this country since almost all of the University research here is funded by big agro- business corporations like Monsanto.

Another assault on bees are the pesticides of the NEONICOTINOID variety. These are so frightening -- since they linger in soil and are held in plant tissues/fluids and affect insects long after application -- that Europe has halted their use in order to further study them and their effect on bees.

(Neonicotinoids also affect trees in awful ways. Just what we don't need -- killing both our trees (our largest land oxygen makers) and our pollinators just so Chemical Industrialist Corporations like BAYER can continue to make crazy profits.) Here's a link for more info--
The Greed party of Neocons profit, is the new mother of invention. Profit in treatments over cures and prevention. War over peace and private for profit incarceration over living wages and education. Now please bargain for profit rehabilitation asylums, urine tasting and loss of public assistance for life. What's that incentive? Homeless whistle blowing deterrents and the mixed messages to kids. NRA's lobby victory's, 3 strikes and mandatory minimum for koch's long term dividends. The profits of prohibition forfeiture and confiscations over regulation. Pissant town palin clones getting tax dollars to lie some more. Outsourcing, prison slave labor and scabs in right to work for less states. Those living near koch paper mills or factory farms or nuclear reactions and fossil fools, creating long term illness for Big Pharma to profit. Frankenfud and aspartame from rumsfelds searle pharmaceuticals, subsidiary of Monsanto. Ends justify means lies are unfactual truths spread by Congressions and the MBSmedia in nonbias fashion. Country or Western, its our choice. DdC

All the forums I frequent, recommend NOT using high fructose corn syrup because it isn't good for the bees....now we do use regular sugar/water syrup in the winter only to keep them from starving, but there are additives you can put in it to make it more healthy, like Megabee :MegaBee Diet - Honey Bee Food, Bee Nutrition, Tucson Bee Diet, Honeybee Diet, Honeybee Nutrition, Healthy Bees, Bee Health
which is a highly balanced protein supplement with amino acids, vitamins etc...
And when it is spring and there is plenty of nectar bees WON'T eat sugar syrup, they prefer their natural food....

And yep, systemic insecticides are definitely a problem....same thing, the seed is coated with insecticide before planting, the insecticide is washed into the soil with watering, is then drawn up into the roots and the rest of the plant. therefore when an insect bites into the plant, it dies....

But these are not the ONLY bad things agro-business is doing....what about seeds Monsanto has patents on that are immune to Roundup? Would you want to eat things grown that are immune to weedkiller, so the crops can be soaked to prevent weeds and help boost harvest?

Here is more today: http://www.nbcnews.com/business/mons...ses-6C9996526]

Of course notice what the US gov says: "U.S. officials say there is no conclusive proof that pesticides caused the bee deaths, and they cite many other factors, including the mites."
Gee, that's exactly what all those big companies said!

What they are saying is SO obvious, and it is obvious to more people now than ever before .

people are begining to realize what is going on in the corrupt food industry and its ties to government.

I protested in Long Beach. Monsato is fuckin evil! The gmo contreversy is small compared to all the other fucked up shit they are secretly doing.

Apparently they plan to put aspertame in all milk, without labeling it. One of the protestors was ranting on and on about how aspertame is super toxic, and was approved by the FDA because monsanto bribed those bastards.

Monsanto sux...
