It is really bad if all the bees die, we'll all starve.

Ive always found that fact to be sensationalist bullshit.

We might have to drastically change diets and our numbers might dwindle, but thats ridiculous to think the entire human population would be wiped out by removing fucking bees. I seriously dont think nature would create that much of a bottleneck for the existence of entire species of animals.

We need pollinators...If we don't want to have to pollinate the plants ourselves than we should do something to keep bees around...

Honey is a great sugar source, that I would dearly miss...

Trying to downplay the loss of species is utter bullshit, its the whole "well the world has gone to shit, lets adapt to the effect rather than adapting the cause" type of lazy hog minded stubbornness that has lead this world to shit in the first place...

Uh bees provide the vast amount of pollination for food crops across the globe.

Bottleneck is exactly what the bees are circumventing, the bees die, we'll all be starving.

So yeah, why give a fuck if bees are dying .

not to mention the bees dieing are just the obvious and first sign of Humans being drastically poisoned as well...

They are dieing from the chemicals used on our foods.

To downplay the bee situation at all is completely ignorant, as it really does mean everything.

Sure the human species will survive, but not only will the amount of people that die from lack of food drastically increase, but we will lose soooo many different species of plants and animals.
aka mass extinction.

bee's arent there to pollinate, those plants die, the animals that eat those plants die, etc etc. basic food chain stuff. Bees are a keystone species. Effects on them affect entire ecosystems.

Waves, i know you were just saying how humans will survive n shit, but to downplay the situation at all is to play right into monsanto's hand... so congrats you monsanto crony.

Woah woah woah i never said dont give a fuck. I said the threat to our species was overblown. Of course bees are important. But will humans be extinct within 4 years if they all disappeared? Hell no. Nature is resilient as fuck and we are part of nature. We would find a way to survive.

It would suck alot, and alot of people would die from starvation, but we would still be going strong.

I will never give up being a Monsanto loyalist.

There is nothing wrong with humans "playing god" and changing genetics which they still dont really understand how they work exactly. Nothing at all, this will end perfectly for all involved!

Also, I have to say something controversial in every thread. Its. What. I. Do.

I don't like Monsanto at all, but they aren't the only ones... an article in my beekeeper magazine stated that Bayer makes seed coated with insecticide, once it's watered the insecticide washes off into the soil and around the roots, then the roots suck it up into the plant and it is "insect-resistent". The machine that planted the corn, would clog so they used talc powder to keep it moving through tubes into the planter, when the machine "puffed" a seed into the ground, talc and insecticide would drift onto a neighboring apple orchard, which in turn, wiped out the beehives near by.

Speaking of the honeybee though, this is only one problem facing honeybees today. They already had American Foul Brood disease and European Foul Brood disease, Nosema, wax moth. Small hive beetle and varroa mite were brought into the country in the last 20 yrs.

If you ever wonder about why I rage at you Waves, reread that post a few times until you realize the fundamental flaw you make in nearly every argument you posit.

Doing pretty good to be less than a year old hive. I lost a hive in July to hive beetles.... them thangs are disgusting... The hive I have now are Minnesota Hygenic bees. A professor in Minnesota bred them because they are good at keeping pest cleared out of the hive. They can detect mites and take them out of the cells of the comb. They seem to be doing good against the hive beetles too so far (fingers crossed).
Talk about something cool, put a drop of honey on your finger and watch and feel the honey bee eat it off....you can see them stick their "tongues" in it and you can feel a very slight sensation as they scarf it all up.
