Just some thoughts..

Bradley Manning trial verdict - POLITICO.com

(watch the video about celebrity support for Manning)

I'm not a big fan of Politico, or celebrities for that matter, but it's nice to see that some people get the picture.

So it seems that one of the big arguments presented in this whole thing is that Manning possibly gave aid to the enemy, a charge of which he was cleared on. But yet I know there are going to be a lot of gung ho people out there who are going to think Manning should hang because he went against the Almighty USA..and if you EVER go against our country, well, you're a traitor.

Some if not most of these people most likely either have been/are in the military themselves and/or are the Neo-conservative chicken hawks who are in favor of militarism and have blind faith in their government. The most common argument that I hear from them is that the military and the troops are over in foreign countries fighting for MY freedom. Man In Black's freedom is what they are fighting for.

I find that to be a crock of shit. No soldier has fought for my personal freedom since the Civil War. The only people who are truly fighting for my freedom are people like Snowden and Manning. I would like to think that these men would be celebrated for their dedication to the freedom of American citizens, but our government treats them as enemies of the State.

Manning especially I feel should be awarded a medal for his valor and honesty and efforts to end atrocities carried out by our Armed Forces. I would like to think that it was a bold and noble act. Instead it looks like he is going to be spending the rest of his life in a prison cell.

I am fed up with my country. This is no longer a free and independent country but rather just the newest in a long line of fascist, totalitarian states. We have become the Evil Empire. We have become the Fourth Reich. We have become what we originally fought against. Tyrants.

It's not Obama. It's not any president past or present. It is the mindset of "America Uber Alles". America over freedom. America over truth. America over righteousness. I am only a young man and I cannot vouch for how long it has been "this bad". But it certainly is "that bad". If it wasn't "that bad", then there would be no reason to try and censor Manning's wikileaks or Snowden's NSA whistleblowing.

It has come to the point where I no longer support our federal government AT ALL. I support the State of Ohio. I support you and me. I support absolute freedom. Freedom of information. Information is truth, if we are fighting against the spread of information we are fighting against the spread of the truth and that doesn't bode well with me.

I admire what Montana has done as far as becoming the first state to pass a law to prevent the government from spying on anyone in the state by tracking personal information stored in their electronic devices. Hopefully more states will follow suit.

The bottom line is that we obviously cannot trust a federal government that lies to us and tries to censor us. I mean seriously this is not what America was founded on. They need to change the name of this country. I no longer support the United States of America.

It's basically to the point where I am almost ready to take down my American flag and replace it. I know most of you liberals and especially yankees won't like this idea but I'd rather fly my Confederate flag. At least that flag once stood for state's rights. And if it is viewed as Anti-American, all the better. I'd rather the South would have won then to watch what was once my beloved country become what it is now.

Yeah, that sounds good. The Confederate Flag and the Gadsden Flag on the same pole. They already are both in my room but I think it would be symbolic to replace the American flag, which I fly for the whole world to see. But I don't know if I can ever look at that flag and feel patriotic again.

Sic semper tyrannis.

I completely agree that he's fighting for freedom more than soldiers over seas are. How do we take back our constitutional rights and liberties without becoming prisoners & scapegoats ourselves? Is it even possible?

lol at you Yankees

So is this is the one state law the feds will honor? Very doubtful in my opinion.

Aye the Federal gov't is over powering.
I haven't watched the video but I think Manning did fuck and release info that shouldn't of been put out there.
However I don't want him to get capital punishment. He wasn't trying to get soldiers killed. He thought it was the right thing to do. Tough case.

I'm still holding my breathe over the outcome of federal vs state laws over MMJ rights.

Manning should have his own holiday, he could share it with Snowden. It would replace Patriots day. Or it could just remain Patriots day but it would have more meaning.
