How for-profit prisons ever became a thing is so beyond my comprehension. How can you ever say some millionaire only worried about his bottom line is worried about rehabilitation is a joke.

Once again America proves that everything, I mean everything in our society is for sale. Purge the deviants, steer the sheep towards prescriptions so they can get high legally and feed the pig that is our country those sweet sawbucks, bring out the chain gangs like it was 1876 and hope we all die fat and rich before it all starts burning around us.

Bare with me as I try to tell this, sick and all...

Dismas Charities is a non-profit corporation that runs half-way houses here in Ky. and other places. Half- way houses for prison convicts.

A few years ago, it was all over the news that the CEO had purchased sky box seats at the new football stadium for a whopping tune of $92,000 per year, with a 5 year contract. He also had another contract for more seats at another stadium for $45,000 per year.

The CEOs response was that he wanted to show a positive presence in Louisville, so the people would donate more to the charity. Sounds almost fine until you find out that 92 or 95% of all Dismas Charities money comes from contracts with the federal government. Very little money comes from donations. He also said that he invested some money and this was profits off the investments, so it shouldn't matter.

Of course things were looked into further and this same CEO earns a $600,000 (more actually) a year salary. He replaces a woman who earned 50-60 grand a year.

The end of the story is he cancelled the sky box seats and everyone just forgot about it.

I'll try to find some links.

Here's a good one:

This world is full of scumbags, only problem is that so few of them are behind bars.

my point is that i believe they would, due to social/socioeconomic factors at play here in this fine country of ours.

black people would still commit more crimes on average than other races, and the racist justice system would still put them away in larger numbers and for lesser offenses than other races. if we think the fucked up drug policy is the only thing influencing such large numbers of black in prison i think the problem and the root of the problem is far far deeper than just that.
I think that if you emptied the prisons of drug related offenders, you'd have some empty prisons. I was only commenting on that aspect of it and wasn't debating the race issue. Just sheer numbers.
