Looks I'm no fan of McCain but he was given the opportunity to go home after a year in captivity because his daddy was a bigshot general. He said he wasn't going to leave unless they let his friends out too. They kept him there another four years.

I mean if that's not heroic, I don't know what is.

No one leaves out of sequence, it's a military thing. He had little choice.

He got shot down over Hanoi supposedly bombing a power plant. Hardly heroic. They should have shot his ass.

Well, first pre-primary GOP debate delivered the crazy in spades.

Trump's support certainly is coming from wherever.

Im still hoping that what we have now is a bunch of meme candidates and that somehow some other logical conclusion appears.

Sanders would be awesome. Not a drug warrior like hillary or biden. Socially progressive on issues like abortion, gayz as well as programs like socialized medicine. Sane on Israel (go figure the jew who lived on a kibbutz is the strongest supporter of palestine out of all the candidates). A moderate on guns, which is awesome and hardly exists at all on either side. Long record of standing by his convictions. Oh and he's not nearly as bought and paid for as the others out there.

I'm kinda rooting for this guy:

Lawrence Lessig, a Harvard professor who has been one of America’s most active voices in the fight to reform campaign finance laws, is running for president.

Lessig’s platform, detailed on this here website, focuses almost exclusively on reforming America’s political system: protecting and expanding voting rights, ending gerrymandering and instituting proportional representation, and enacting campaign finance reform to encourage the funding of campaigns by small donors rather than by the rich and big corporate and other special interests.

Lessig is absolutely right in his beliefs and he is doing the ever-unappreciated work of pushing for the sort of systemic change that is both absolutely necessary if we ever hope to have a well-functioning and fair democracy, and too boring for the general public to give a shit about. So let’s hope a more popular candidate steals his ideas.

Sometimes I wonder if guys like that run for president, never expecting to win (of course they will never admit that publicly), but with the intent of stealing enough votes from the big tent candidates that the issues they champion must because a part of popular candidates platforms.

I always imagine that sort of a guy talking to his wife when deciding whether to run or not, and spelling it out just like that ^ and then discussing how they must never publicly admit they don't expect to win.

I really hope I'm not getting duped again. I mean obviously I am because it's politics but shit really harshes my mellow when people wage full fledge propaganda wars just to be the nigga in charge of the 30 trillion dollar America train.

Bernie says it more as rhetoric than a fully developed action plan.

That's my concern with Sanders. He tends to tug at the heartstrings first, plan implentations later.

All the stuff on Bernie's platform is very easy to say, but yet to hear any substance of how he's going to get there.

I mean, almost all Americans thought closing Gitmo would've been easy.

Closing gitmo would just be a gesture anyway. Relocating them doesn't change shit.

Yeah hell with closing it just cut out the sketchy extradition shit.

The funny thing about the current candidates is that as far as im concerned, Rand Paul has the most action points for shitting on the domestic spying in its then-current form.

Bernie also has clout for being in it from back in the day and being a dem/soc/indie longterm powerhouse in an otherwise red state

Rand said he didn't trust Obama having our phone records during the debate. Sort of shying away from his earlier stance and even implying that his party could be trusted to have those same records. Gotta keep us safe.

I can't see how Trump has gained so much in popularity. He's an absolute moron.

You put way too much faith and stock in the electorate, milady.

There are some differences. No Obama, no Iran deal. The absolute best thing he did while in office.
