I will vote for Bernie

I don't think he's going to be able to change things in Washington, and there are people in OWS who don't even think he's going to try (I guess he's voted for all the war stuff, or something). And normally, that would be a good enough reason for me to stay home on Election Day.

However, I like what Bernie represents. He's a very popular guy because he's speaking out against the real problems facing the country, and the huge issue of income inequality and our quasi-plutocracy. This is good no matter what happens with his presidency. If he wins, and actually starts cleaning things up, then awesome. Change happens. If he wins and rolls status quo, that's still awesome, because then you're going to have a pissed off electorate who's going to exact revenge come midterm elections.

Or, they'll just light some torches and head to Billionaire Row.

If he doesn't win, however, then that's a blow for the larger movement, so I'll throw my straw on the camel's back.

IMO if the rightwing wins, it will also ultimately work in our favor, as they'll fuck things up royally and thus hopefully motivate the currently complacent liberal base (myself included) into some real action, outside of the system.

Don't want that though, because it will get ugly.

Things really changed after eight terrifying years of Bush eh?

I wouldn't count on this happening.

it's really too bad he passed away. I don't know if he would have changed anything. He could have been another politician full of bs but from what I saw and heard out of him he really seemed passionate about Canada and Canadians and wanted to make real change instead of spouting word "Change" over and over again. It's a shame sometimes I feel like these elections just come down a slogan on a bumper sticker. I'm a young dude so it may not mean much but Layton was easily my favourite Canadian politician.

Sanders seems like a good dude. The only democrats I really know running are him and Clinton. I remember watching some of the speeches Sanders did in the senate and being really impressed. I liked Ron Paul too. I thought his farewell to congress speech was pretty inspiring and it's a shame I don't see any of that in his son but I'm not American so I'm not as educated on their politics either.

The problem i have with Bernie, other than his advanced Alzheimers, is he, like the other Dems outside of Webb maybe, are running as if they're running for a House seat. Nothing they propose, free college , raising taxes etc have a chance of getting through a legislature that will be dominated by right wing Republicans

I hear ya, but completely different situation right now IMO

That was like 15 years ago. An entirely different demographic now owns the "disgruntled youth" front. Not only did we have the stage set for us by those 8 Bush years, but then endured another 8 years of continuation and inaction by the Dems, completely letting us down and basically destroying all faith in the system.

A whole lot of shit has gone down in the past 15 years.
Not to mention the rise of the internet and access/exposure to information.

That said... Say we get "attacked" again, and i wouldn't at all be surprised if the propaganda machine could whip the majority up into calling for war again...

Eh who the fuck knows what will happen.

War again? Have we stopped warring? Could a day pass where we weren't responsible for at least one death in a multitude of countries?

I remember thinking, 'Eight years of disillusioning bullshit from the republican presidency, now they'll elect a democrat, nothing will change and people will start to see through the puppet show.'

Maybe thats happened. Maybe more people see through it, but still, eight years of democrats and there doesn't seem to be any critical mass for change (marijuana laws excluded).

Although... more and more seem to be aware of the flawed banking system that is the root of so many of our problems (such as wealth inequality).

Are there actual times when Bernie was caught slipping or is the Alzheimer's thing just a crack about his age? Legitimately curious. I think Raygun's mental acuity was seriously troubling, and if Bernie is actually going down that rabbit hole it could be even worse as he's more likely to ignore his handlers. Dementia should near instant impeachment, not out of malice, it's just too important a job to have "off days."

And it's fucked up how the republicans will continue to steal the house after their shotgun gerrymandering. Change may be coming down the pipe on that front, but not soon enough for the next couple cycles.

True.
You know what i meant though.
Our country has always been in a state of war since its inception, but then there are times of WAR.

Im just waiting for *cough* another *cough* false flag attack on US soil, so our corporate overlords can whip up the retards into supporting a war with Iran.

Gotta feed the war machine yo.
Do people think that those in power are just gonna give it up? Hell no. They'll burn our country to the ground first and half the world with us.

Which is why i doubt bernie will win, or if he does, actually do anything meaningful.

So ultimately it comes down to a symbolic gesture like Rev mentions in the OP.

Idk. Ill take it i guess.
Ima vote for him.
