Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015, a.k.a. Cyberspying Bill

Not a big joiner, but these are some of the good guys.

Governments seem to constantly insist on this sort of invasion of our privacy, against all reason, and it confounds me as to why our representatives think its a good idea.

More to the point its incredibly frustrating how there is a significant upswell of resistance every time, more than is typical for controversial bills in western democracies, and yet they insist on repeatedly reincarnating these attempts.

It's a method of generating apathy.

Scratch the wound repeatedly, eventually it'll go numb.

I'm talking, in the Canadian sense of course about bill c-60/c-61.

They just keep at it.

Fuck off, digital content transcends archaic copyright laws. We need a totally new approach.

Do you have any ideas of a good alternative one?

Being active like this is the only way to keep the powers at be, at bay, from stealing our rights right under our noses.

No hahaha.

But then again I'm not aspiring to be a legislator.

Unfortunately the old saw about joining them if ya can't beat 'em may be your only and best last resort.

I can think of four off the top of my head:

- no more copywriting songs. Copywriting sequences of frequencies is fucking ridiculous. I propose that you can copywrite recordings of songs, but not the songs themselves. ie; you can cover any song you want and sell it without reparation. You can't take other people's actual recordings and sell it without permissions.

- no more copywriting the use of things in the natural world. It's been almost 20 years and I'm still flabbergasted that Kellogg's successfully sued Exxon for the use of a real bengal tiger

- no more copywriting existing singular words or names. If you're a dude named McDonald, you should be allowed to name your business after yourself.

- no more copywriting custom designed genetics. Copywriting life is truly batshit crazy.
