4 confirmed dead, 11 wounded so far.

No one in custody.

Civil Unrest just took it up another notch.

Much as I hate to see anyone hurt, this is pretty exciting. This is how change happens in a society.

I don't know if I can get on board with this sentiment as I grow older.

Violence is not a necessary condition for change, nor is exclusion/ in and out group thinking.

It's wearisome to me that extreme behaviors are being toted as acceptable so long as the ends justify the means.

Exciting, certainly, but not in a positive or controlled danger sort of way.

Violence and in-groups will always be a thing. Its inevitable. No amount of social engineering will ever change that. I'd go as far as blaming social engineering for yesterday.

We, the USA, are founded on violent change.
It's how we started, became a country that is.

Not saying that needs to be the norm.
Just sayin.

I'd even say yesterday was the same sort of terrorism as Tactical Bowlcut in Charleston. The most common factor is violence in response to dishonest media reportings of racism.

Where there are peaceful people who do not believe in identity politics, there is hope for a future without violence and in-groups. Societies are comprised of individuals, and it's in the power of the individual to refrain from such norms.

That's a lovely idea but it's simply not reality.

It's true that it's not reality, which is sad.

I simply wouldn't say it's an impossibility.

I'd say its possible to a very small point. If you get too many people you're bound to have serious points of contention that no longer seem worth amelioration.

For example we accept poor behavior from our family (to a point) because we share so much of a common background that we're able to consider a multitude of factors and cut some slack. Such grace is often extended as far as the village idiot.

But when some other villages idiot comes to my village, there's gonna problems. Who knows, maybe it's an entire village of idiots. Maybe my village is the idiots? People simply have differences that can't always be accepted or reconciled in a reasonable way.

Don't forget the shooters also wanted to "kill white cops",
which seems at odds, to me, about being pissed at BLM,
the other part of brief quotes.

I'm not sure if I'm reading you correctly.

Bowlcut went violent when he came to believe that the media narrative was wrong.

Kangz went violent when he came to believe the media narrative was right.

Of course... But even the USA and ISIL has at least one thing in common.
We all have one thing in common. How that goal is meant is another matter.

I think we... as in WE.. forget to come from a place of personhood and humaneness,
even if THEY can't. Our neglect of that, I feel entrenches each other's position....
Thus further and escalated conflict.

Current reports I am reading say the suspects we pissed at BLMs,
AND ALSO wanted to kill white cops.

Where does that fit into one box, right?

These are the reports .

I have no idea how the last sentence is invalid to that event...
But also unsure how that fits in or matters here.

So is it a leap to guess you're hoping this was a BLM shooter?

Second question. Do you own any guns or plan on getting any?
