What's up guys. Alright... little question. If you had to choose between the two regions, which one would you pick and why? Pros and Cons appreciated. Mods, if this is the wrong forum, will you move it where it needs to go, please. I work in a technical field (IT) so I can pretty much find a job anywhere I go, but I'm quite interested in these two regions. And if you say neither, where would you go? I'm from the US, so I'm not sure what would be needed exactly to move to Canada, having never lived outside the USA. Thanks in advance.

http://www.yahooka.com/forum/regiona...alifornia.html I threw a copy of this in Regional Unity and it might get some different responses. Hope that was okay? If not I'll merge them into on in here.
You will have to look into some sort of status to move into Canada and work. People in Vancouver have told me that Portland and Eugene are 'Vancouver-esq' if that is where you're looking to settle up here.

Is that two locations, or three?
The majority of the marijuana grown in BC comes from the interior (around Kelowna, Nelson, and Penticton). They are all beautiful places, but all small cities. Most of the product goes to Vancouver, where it can be found easily and cheap, and of the premium quality. I've only had Nor Cal weed a handful of times, and never disappointed. It isn't quite as good, but nothing I would ever complain about either. I guess it depends on what industry you work in, and where you would prefer to live. Having lived in both, I prefer Canada, but thats pretty subjective. |

I hear British Columbia actually has a pretty temperate climate. It doesn't get as warm as other places, but not as cold, either.
That being said, I, too, have pondered this and feel pretty confident about California.

Maybe you should visit Vancouver and see what you think and how you feel there but imagine allot of rain and cold.
The interior is beautiful and where the growing activity is but there's not allot of IT work there and some communities are now on high-alert for grow-ops. Northern California is the easiest change to make, less hassle and safer.

I lived there I can say the average winter temp is +2c summer gets around 20c. Certainly not THE warmest, but damn not cold. But this doesn't really compare with Cali dryness, because Van IS wet. This is a fact. And this makes everything green all the time.

That drive down route 1 or 5 is really awesome for sure. That's a good loop to make just out of interest.
Van is wet. Mostly the dampnes makes it cold. There is something to be said about being able to walk outside anytime of the year you want. Some people like that proteptual dark haze the winter puts you in , for lack of sunshine. I am 12 hours north of Van right now and this winter when it was -40 and sunny as heck I think I enjoyed that more than being damp, but I'm alittle skewed because I did landscaping in Van for 2 years without more than a week off each winter. Which means I stood out in alot of rain, crawled around in alot of mud and was always clamy in the gloves. But its an awesome place. Living next to the mountains and the beach is awesome. And the city has a fairly small feel, which appealed to me. I was always seeing someone I knew, which is more funny to me coming from a town of 2500 and hardly seeing anyone I knew.

If I remember #1 its the coastal road and there are parts that I was actually thinking 'Oh shit, is the rest of this was out just going to crumble any second?'
#1 is the road that connects to 101 in Northern CA and is all coastal from there. From Sacramentoish to Santa Cruz its just alittle road (#1) and then gets alittle bigger after that. I was also thinking of 99/5, which is more inland. I just looked at google maps to check these routes.

101 is niceee, but it sucks when your driving a bigass winnebago and another bigass winnebago comes from around the mountain bend... scary shit man..
![]() I love the San Joaquin Valley, everythings dead and dry and wet and hot and cold and raining and draughting and gangsta and white trash and the cops are so friendly.. they just take your weed instead of throwing you in jail ... Ive never been to Canada so I can't say it wouldn't be nice too

Im from Victoria.
Everyone smokes weed, cops can get pretty chill, and it never hits freezing temperatures. Id say its the best place in Canada! California would be nice, but Id rather be living in Canada than the USA |

Try thinking out side of Van alittle as well.
Place like North Van and Squamish are close, as well as the Sunshine Coast, which is more of a day trip, but really seems far away and if you love boating and fishing it can't be beat. Sechelt/Gibsons Landing are two cool little towns and Half moonbay feels like another world. From Gibsons to Powell River is blissful country.

First of all, real people can't get a job in Canada, and didn't a poster from another Canada forum say it was ridiculously expensive to live there?
I say move there, if you can have $200/day mailed to you. |
