And what the heck is up with that? Why ruin perfectly good weed with tobacco?
Do they grow using chemical nutrients?

traditional....
I will explain this tobacco habit a bit.
Dutchmen have been smoking tobacco for centuries now, it was once a major trade product for our country. Many Dutch people still roll their own tobacco cigs, so we are also used to rolling up, for all I know from my great grandfathers days. When hash was introduced in the Netherlands, around the late 50's of the previous century, I believe, the resin was crumbled and rolled into a handmade tobacco cigarette. Pretty logical, there were no bongs, vapo's and chillums on hand, and hash alone would not burn when rolled up in paper... The Dutch hashsmoker never changed their habit, the only thing that changed was the (king) size of the rolling papers and we came up with a paper filter, to keep the backy from our lips. Pipes and bongs are available in abundance, but they are being used by Americans, Germans and Britons mainly, in that order. (coffeeshop observation) Spain has the same habit, they have another way of rolling and using a filter of a cig. Don't judge us for smoking tobacco in our joints, that's what our Minister of Health is doing already, it is killing the atmosphere in our coffeeshops. Coffeeshops have bongs and vaporizer as a service product for the visitors that do want to use them, we respect their way of inhaling cannabis. I think most American smokers started with cannabis buds, in an enviroment where rolled up tobacco cigs were not common. That made a start with pipes and bongs an easy choice, and kept them from developing a tobacco addition, unlike most European smokers. Hope this helps to understand those weird Dutch potsmokers using tobacco. This is why the tobacco ban for coffeeshops has such a great impact on our culture, not on my business, we sell less drinks and candy, which is obvious. We are still smoking as usual, but some coffeeshops are empty all day, ugly.

It's much more enjoyable to smoke your weed / hash with tabacco. Only in the North America's do they insist on smoking weed straight. The rest of the world knows and understands that you are supposed to smoke with tobacco.

no crisis in coffeeshops....
P S: i guess the economic crisis has something to do with that as well
Not at all, in fact, the crisis made more people unemployed, so they have more time to smoke a joint, but no longer in the coffeeshop because in most of them there is an active tobacco ban. This means people buy their desired products and do not order a drink to go with their tobacco joint. We sell more weed, but we sell less drinks, the higher weedsales compensate the loss of bar sales. We are not relying on tourism, they usually show up when my regulars are on a holiday, so we can spend time on them. Tourism is down 40% in Amsterdam, I am sure the coffeeshops there will notice that big time. |

Thanks for that reply, it makes more sense to me now.
I wasn't judging on the tobacco content of your joints, I just prefer the taste of my weed more than the taste of my cigs. Coffeeshops will probably be gone by the time I can visit damn it.
