like the salad dressing shit.. i couldn't find any when i went grocery shopping yesterday, but imagine it's pretty simple. like mayonaise, either cider or malt vinegar, sugar and maybe some mustard?? am i close? wtf is in it?

The English secret didn't make it across the waters with my people centuries ago, unless that is how potato salad came about... because that sounds a lot like the dressing you want to make.

Normally people just buy the Heinz one but I found a recipe that looks ok

ya, i usually just buy the heinz stuff but haven't seen it in the grocery store for a while.. also, find there is a difference between the stuff in the glass bottles and the ish in the squeeze tubes. i find the stuff in the glass is generally thicker and better than the squeeze shit

White distilled vinegar I'm thinking. You could use nicer vinegar but it would impart it's own taste.
Actually, looking at that recipe 1/2 pint seems like a lot of vinegar.

obv.

i'll probably try it out next week. just made coleslaw with homemade dressing ness.

my creamy coleslaw dressing:

1 cup mayonaise
~ 4 tbsp cider vinegar
~ 3/4 tsp each of ground celery seed, garlic powder, onion powder
~ 1/2 tsp of cumin seed
1-2 tbsp dijon
2-3 tbsp sugar
salt and pepper

i make my coleslaw mix-ness with cabbage, carrots, red onion and broccoli stalks
