NYC-Jersey

Been here a week--being a hayseed from New Hampshire/Western Mass I didn't realize the luxury of not dealing with miles of red tape just to open a checking account! Advice or tour guides appreciated!

I'm from way down south like fender, and I'm never up that way these days so I can't be much help. However, as goes with all new moves, just really try to take it all in - enjoy yourself. Equal parts work and play. Since you're right there, do up a good amount of the city life, but don't forget to tour around Jersey. It's not all as bad as people like to make it out to be. I don't really know what you're into but the Jersey Lighthouse tour bit can be fun. (geekdom. I just think the lighthouses are really awesome). I mean there's a million things to do, just hafta look into what's going on locally. Speaking of locally, idk if you guys have the goods up that way, but produce down south here during the summer is amazinggggg. Taste the veg man, you wont regret it. You're a bridge from NY and about 2 hrs. from Philly, so use that to your advantage. It's a good spot to be in man, hope you enjoy your stay

thanks all---nope, not gonna be a tunneler--job is right here in Jersey--a 10 min drive from my apt actually.

red tape--well, maybe it was because we joined a credit union, but they demanded like 3 types of ID--never had that in NH or MA. And the Motor Vehicle Comm is quite a nightmare.

Excited to be close to NYC---I imagine it will be something I won't ever forget.

But we like the area from what we've explored.

^It seems like there are a few little pockets of interesting stuff in New Brunswick, but otherwise its Sprawl-land....maybe I need to make it down to the shore soon. Or maybe just be toasted
