Myd's Quit Cig Thread

how wonderful yahooka of you to offer a place for me to organize my thought's and progress. Perhaps this will be the second time I will be able to quit a substance and have all you yahookans be able to watch.

This time it's not recreational drugs, or alcohol. Conquered those stupid sons of bitches . Time to quit this stupid cigarette nicotine bullshit!!!

My Past:
I've been smoking for nearly half of my life. Most of the time a pack a day, that got expensive once I fell out of cash, so I have been living the struggle on a half pack a day or so. I'd say I average 12 full flavor 100's a day though just to be honest.

Okay so I knew I couldn't do it without a boost and I have gone through the patches, the lozenges, tried the gum(ewww), tried cold-turkey, tried meditation, tried replacing the oral fixation with mints and toothpicks. All have failed. Closest I got was cold-turkey but you know you got good friends when they light cigarettes and put them in your mouth to see if you really did quit or not.

Anyways I bought an e-cigarette. Yep I scraped up my last fucking dollars for it, and my dad was so supportive(god bless him) he bought me the replacement liquid.

Day one: Smoked three regular cigarettes
Day two: Smoked one regular cigarettes

Ya ya ya I am still getting nicotine or w/e blah blah FUCKING blah. Get off my dick you pompous yahooka fucks. First of all this is a safer alternative, it's cheaper, and you can CONTROL the nicotine level. In-fact you can smoke nothing but flavored water vapor if you want(which I will work down too once I get over the w/d of other cig chemicals).

Here's my game-plan:
1. Smoke 1 cigarette a day until I become comfortable switching only over to the e-cigarette.
2. Smoke no cigarettes and only e-cigarettes. Do this for 30 days so it becomes a habit.
3. Reduce the nicotine to nothing. Do this for 30 days so it becomes a habit.
(If this step is very hard I may try making my own liquid with a home made lobelia extract)
4. Gradually stop smoking the e-cigarette, but keep it around(where-ever I go) with nicotineless liquid just in-case I cave in.

Here's my total costs so far(including what my dad paid):
$55 - 401 Starter Kit
$33 - E-Liquid Mixing Kit
$4.88 - Marlboro Light 100's(on sale bitches)
____________________ _______
$92.88 - Total.

Over two days I didn't smoke 1 pack of cigarettes(which I would have). So so far I have saved about $4.88 .

$92.88 - $4.88 = $88

Wish me luck yo.

good luck man. I chew Orbits bubble gum when I feel like indulging in my oral fixation. But whatever you do PLEASE don't become a smug douche bag once you quit, like sir-ex.

When I stopped smoking cigs, I rolled me a pack of pinners basically and smoked them when I wanted a cig.

I think you have a really good plan there. My suggestion, try to limit the number of smokers you hang out with for a while, that is THE hardest thing, imo.

I haven't bought cigs since 2002 and have only had a dozen smokes in that time. Usually I just get a drag off a cig and I'm wired for a while now.

You can do it man. And we're here listening.

Thanks for making a safer lifestyle choice for all of us, your family and YOURSELF!

Still smoking the same pack of Marb Light 100's cigarettes. Just reached the half-way point in it. I can honestly say I have never had a pack of cigarrettes last this long, not even when I was like 12 just starting out. So if thats not progress I dunno what is!

5.0 x 2 = 10(it's been 3 days I think since my last update, so I'll add another day so I don't have to update tomorrow)

$88 - 10 = 78.

I just got my nicotine liquid today. Let me tel you people what. The e-liquid makes all the difference. Mixed up a flavor blend today of tobacco and coffee added a little vegetable glycerine and it produces a lot of smoke, I can feel it in my lungs, I mixed it so I get 0.7mg's of nicotine per 20 hits(one cig).

E-cigarettes are a god-send.

Pretty much in a month I will have saved my lungs from approx 16 * 20 = 320 cigarettes, and my e-cigarette will have paid itself off.

If I am still hooked on the nicotine by next fall I will be growing my won tobacco and doing an acid/base extraction to make my own liquid so I don't even have to buy the liquid anymore. But I doubt that'll happen!

What you need to quit, but you HAVE to promise yourself that this is how its gonna work...

You'll need two small blocks of hardwood, roughly about the size of a cigarette pack. When you feel the urge to light up take the two blocks of wood, place one on a firm surface, grasp the other firmly in your hand (right hand if right handed, left if left) Now place the pinky finger of your free hand on top of the block of wood which is on the firm surface. Slam the other block of wood down onto your pinky as hard as you possibly can.

Repeat until urge subsides.

Its your brain, your body and you're in control. If you are no longer interested in the cigs then know you can quit at any time, even with the negative effects of withdrawal (which are only temporary) you just have to know that you indeed want to quit.

Good luck!

I want to quit, but self-harm is one of those things I gotta stay away from. Cuz when I lose my cool, I really do lose my cool. So I need this to be relatively painless, which is why I am doing the e-cigarette thing.

I appreciate the advice but in my case I just can't be doing anything masochistic for any reason.

The e-ciggy think is okay but if you want to quit you'll need a different crutch all together.

I ate 3 to 5 packs of Extra sugar free BUBBLE GUM (it HAS to be bubble gum) a day for the few weeks it took to get off the cigs, although I may have had a stronger mitigating factor at work, like really missing the ability to breathe...

Anyway, so yeah. The reason it has to be bubble gum is to stimulate the blowing and drawing parts of your head. It helps, really. You also need to chew the gum until your jaw is sore(ish, you know, don't kill yourself with it )

I also smoked ALOT of pot but then again, the mitigating factor there was I have two sons who were about 7 and 9 years old at the time, they're both still alive so it must have done the trick.

You will also find out fairly quickly who really loves you.

My first post was kind of a joke with the wood and all, but the other parts, about you being in control of your body and mind is true.

It can be tough but you can get through, good luck!

Oh by the way, I reread your game plan...

I decided I was going to quit and that was it.

If you're really serious, thats what you need to do, no 'just in case pack' no weaning off, nothing, just quit.

I haven't had another cigarette since. 10+ years.

Being broke really helps you quit, I think thats the only reason im not still smoking a lot. I smoke like one cig a day and sometimes I dont even get cravings... it helps me if I keep busy, keep my mind off of it, but I gotta break the habits of smoking while I drive, drink, use the computer etc..

Im trying to quit too, I used to smoke between a half and a full pack a day, the only time I smoke more than a few cigs a day is when I drink or when im hanging out with a lot of smokers... I think its easing down to a social thing for me now, I even feel healthier, but that just might be placebo

Damn spanky now I really feel like sucking a fat cig down my throat hole. Lol ewww dude that's so gooy. my lungs have got to be FUCKED.

Smoking is self-harm but it's not all that painful. I have a problem with self-hatred to be honest, and that's a big part of why I wanna quit.

I just gotta do it on my own time. I understand you just have to cold turkey it or w/e, but that's just not how I work. This is my only real crutch left you know. All of my other addictions balance on this last one, so I am playing jenga really.

Not to mention I have been smoking for almost half of my life. So like everything I've learned for half of my life I have learned with a cigarrette after. So I just gotta do it on my own pace. I'm doing fucking good though!

I think tommarrow I'm gonna try not having a single cigarette. Still gonna use the ecig but I mean, I'm tryipping to hard to justify myself. It's just how I feel, ya dig?

I actually learned in anatomy during a cadaver lab that your lungs clean themselves very well. Probably the most efficient organ at repairing itself. But, yeah if you chain smoke regularly like a pack a day I'm sure that significantly slows it down. Over time though, it can be mostly reverted. Just takes some exercise and lots of time.

Hows it goin'?

Weekends coming up, thats the hardest time, out with friends and all.

Buy the gum to go with the e-ciggy, it'll help.

I just quit one day. I smoked for about 3+ years...it was never packs a day or anything and a couple months ago, I just quit. Finished the pack I had and then never bought another. Done. Finished. While I smoked, I knew it wasn't going to be forever. I knew I'd stop when I wanted to. While I was smoking, I was honest with myself...I'm smoking them because I like to and I'm going to enjoy doing so, when I'm done, I'm done and I'll know.

That was it. It's different for everyone because everyone is different, everyone is their own person with weaknesses, faults, strengths, mind sets...etc.

Then you weren't a smoker...
