I quit smoking....

....cigs last night at 8:17pm and I'm going strong. It's weird because the only 'cravings' I have had so far were at lunch.. and it wa just a collection of thoughts/excuses to start again. I just shrugged em off and carried on with work. I did it on the most busy day I have as well... so my mind coul be occupied. I smoke the most when I'm not busy. It's also been strage because I have a load of energy... like I am on a consant caffeine buzz. My students saw me bouncing off hte walls all day. I've been smoking abuot one pack a day for several years now and quit once for three weeks. This time I want it to stick... but I will always smoke it somewhat with my greenery.

Anyone else quit... or thinking or quiting.. or quiting right now too?

Also.. hopefully I shouldn't need it... but any words of ecouragment would be awesome. Thanks.

I quit by smoking a J when I wanted a cig. That carried me long enough to get to the point where I didn't buy them and then I just didn't smoke for about a year.

I do still take a drag off a cig once in a while for a buzz and have a cig with my sis once in a blue moon to show her that I feel she/you/one could smoke here and there, but not all the time.

Knowing what makes you feel like smoking is a good observation. And putting some tobacco in your J's will help you reduce in nicotine without totally abstaing from it.

Good choice and good luck.

For me it's been since 2002 since I've bought a pack and have had a grand sum of 5-6 cigs, early in the first years and now get a drag when I get a craving and one is smoking near me, which is hardly ever. Other times I just think, what do I really want here, which is why I think it's good to know what makes you feel like smoking, because it's easier to see Mr. Cig walking down the street towards you.

I put Camel Turkish Golds down after many years of pack day smoking.

Man, it was one of the suckiest of all things that suck for the first two weeks.

I also used the Commit Lozenge (Cappucino flavour) and that helped tremendously. About 9-10 weeks into it, I gave up the lozenges and that was that.

I smoked half a cig the other day and.....oh, man it was bad.

Turkish gold came out in the 90's didn't they? I remeber not having them as an option when I started in '96. I smoked wides, filters, menthol lights for a while, and always treated myself to some TG inter mingled, I didn't like how they tasted after about 3 packs, which was how camel was selling them them, by two get one....even buy one get ones often back then...we'd pull money, as much as 15 yr olds could muster, for the investment potential in the 1 for free market...

I said this,
Quote:
I just quit one day. I smoked for about 3+ years...it was never packs a day or anything and a couple months ago, I just quit. Finished the pack I had and then never bought another. Done. Finished. While I smoked, I knew it wasn't going to be forever. I knew I'd stop when I wanted to. While I was smoking, I was honest with myself...I'm smoking them because I like to and I'm going to enjoy doing so, when I'm done, I'm done and I'll know.
in this hurr thread.

EDIT - Camel Turkish Silver's were my one and only!

Remember back when they had Winter Mocha Mint and Warm Winter Toffee?? OMG, those were the best things ever. The tins were awesome. I still have a ton of them.

Quit for 17 years. Never a day I did not want one. Went to Belize . Got Dunhill's. Yum.

You never quit mentally. I tried Sage's method subbing weed for pot. Spent 4 grand a year for tobacco.

My weed bill jumped to 14 thousand. Did not help a bit.

lol. I guess I've been a big help. Try american spirit. at least it is natural.

Thats awesome buddy because I've quit 'em too a few days ago. In fact this year I only smoked 3 cigs in total.
I've been smoking 20-30 a day in average for the last 15 years so quitting for me wasn't or isn't easy as that.
Strange for me is that I'm experiencing quite the opposite from you, like feeling really slack lacking energy and motivation for work, but that might be the hangover from the holiday I just got back from.

Anyway I'm staying strong and determined to say goodbye to cigarettes for good. I'm already having feelings of pitifulness when I see other people smoking on the street.
I always knew what a stupid and worthless habit it was and I always knew one day I'll collect myself and say that's it, enough is enough!
I made the time finally arive and I'm not going back there, ever again!

Reformed smokers are militant.

There is nobody more fanatic than an ex-smoker.

A few years ago we had smoking and non-smoking areas in Las Vegas Hotel restaurants.

I was sitting in the smoking section, smoking....... Imagine that.

A huge women sitting across the line in the no smoking section began coughing, complaining, dirty looks, what drama.

She called the manager who explained I was sitting in the smoking area and politely ask her to quit making a fuss.

She called me every name in the book loudly.

I stood up and announced to the crowd that the Lady ruining their diiner was a health nut. I told the room in a loud voice that if she was soooooooo concerned about her health she should begin by dropping 250 pounds. She weighed about 350.

I explained the weight was 157 per cent more likely to cause a heart attack. By becoming so upset with my wifts of smoke which were unlikely to harm her like the 2 pound prime rib she inhaled.

The manager returned and told her he agreed with me and asked if she would like to change her order to a salad and diet coke.

The crowd went wild.

Go Movie.

Hahahaha. ^

But I smoke Marlboro Menthols.
I think if I tried to quit smoking I would have to substitute because I have a bad habit of lighting up a smoke as soon as I get in the car and right after eating, but I think if I smoked weed after words I'd be good. The other night I freaked out for not having a cigarette but I smoked a bowl and was all gravy.

I still don't think I could quit though.

I feel as the 3 week mark is the first step out of the smoke.

Please be careful here my friend, I gained in the neighborhood of 75 pounds when I quit smoking.

Mind you I am 6'2" tall and was around 135 lbs when I gave up the choke sticks so I went to about 210 and have been there (give or take 5 lbs) for awhile. Six foot plus at right about 200 pounds is certainly not unhealthy but if you're coming from a normal weight in the beginning, you can balloon up pretty good.

This is another reason I recommend sugarless bubble gum as a crutch to help get you over.

I have always been able to eat as much as I want and not gain any significant mass... but maybe that had something to do with smoking.. so yeah.. only time wil tell.. I'm 70kg now.. I will check again in a few months out of curiousity.

So far its going quite well.. It's not as hard as I thought. The main thing is just breaking up all those mental habits I have conditioned for so long.

I smoke between 1-3 a day for the last 3-4 years. Never feel the need to smoke more than that many. so a pack of 10 usually lasts a week.
