I smoke pot several times a day, probably about five times.
Yet when i stop i only feel positive things, aside from a little irritability if i really wanna smoke..

I've been abstaining from smoke for 26 days after approximately 50 years of almost daily use. The reason for this is because i need to be able to pass a drug test for employment. Initially, within a few days i became depressed. With the help of my husband i've been able to divert my attention from being depressed to other activities. Being 'older' and having physical conditions that cause chronic pain the result from abstinence was extremely unpleasant within only a few hours and i began to experience pain levels that were debilitating. Unable to take narcotics (like vicodin, etc) i've had to endure some periods of chronic pain that make life very difficult. For this there has been no substitute for the self-medicating use of marijuana. Another difficult and unpleasant effect has been anxiety, mood swings, irritability and worst - the inability to focus my thoughts and lack of meditation and motivation.
I'm sharing this now because i do believe that after years of chronic use there is aspects of physical addiction, maybe not for everyone but seemingly those aspects of this drug use have impacted my life. When the time passes that i may begin to self-medicate again i will. But for now i'm struggling with trying to stay focused on the goal of abstinence so that i can pass the drug screening. Charles Beard wrote: "All the lessons of history in four sentences: Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad with power. The mills of God grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly small. The bee fertilizes the flower it robs. When it is dark enough, you can see the stars." |
