7 days sober
Well not exactly sober, but no alcohol.
I haven't had a drink since sunday the 20th. So today will be a full week that I haven't had a drink. The first 3 days were hell but I had a handful of valiums and some clonazepam that helped lots. Since then there's been lots of ups and downs...alot of downs. I don't exactly know how to handle sobriety, I mean I haven't been sober for 5 days straight in over 5 years and now I'm at a week. Oh and there's temptation everywhere, every time I get pissed off or feel a certain feeling it triggers that 'fiending' feeling. There's triggers everywhere, Yahooka was one of them because I used to just sit here drink and write random shit, so I haven't checked in during that first tough week. There were alot of times where I really almost gave in but what helped me get through it is telling myself that tomorrow I'd be starting all over again. If I made it to day 2...day..3....day 4 why make it day 1 tomorrow? It's really weird not drinking, I feel bored with life and apathetic at times but really happy at other times, a kinda happy I haven't felt in a long time. I don't know where I'm going with this, I'm not saying I'll never drink again or anything like that but I'm definitely taking a break for now. PS I had my first solid poop in like 5 years!!!

HEY MIKEY!!!!!!
Other than Charlies comment at the end.... this is sorta how hearing from you feels. Journey's are one step at a time, so day to day, min. to min even.... it sounds like you're super aware of how you are feeling. Breaks are good. I missed ya', but I completely understand how 'Hooka is part of a routine. & ![]() SageTree

Thanks for all the support guys!
And Rev no, I'm not going to meetings, I live in a really small community (about 2,000 people) and everybody knows everybody and I have a stepson who goes to school here so if I were to go to AA it'd spread like wildfire and everybody would judge us (even more then they already do because we are young parents and look different) as parents. But so far I'm feeling good, my hands still shake a little if I'm not doing anything. One day at a time, again thanks guys!

Check out SoberRecovery forums online. It's kind of the next best thing to going to meetings, but it's anonymous.

Good for you Mikey.
I've been nonalcohol for well over 12 years ...you loose count after a couple years of lifestyle change.

congrats man. please remember two things:
You are a good person whether sober or not. When your sober your a better person to everyone else though (especially kids, even if they dont know...they know) If worst comes to worst and you fall off the wagon just get right back up. never let wallowing in failure become an excuse to keep fucking yourself over. i'm happy for you man. it sucks at first but as you go doors will open and a new light will shine :bighug: source: AA and having too many addict friends
