So I've been home for 2 days. I felt good at first.. But now it's kinda back to the way it was. Isolation. I've spent months talking to know one... Boyfriend lived far away but he never talked anyways. I'm here again no ones around.. So quiet.

This program I'm supposed to be getting into.. No ones returning my calls..
Ill keep trying.

I'm not worried..

Try keeping your mind busy. Go out and be around people, even people you don't know (not in any weird stalkerish way). Meet people. Go to church. Get laid. Not in that particular order.

Have you ever heard of antabuse? Its a drug you take that makes you very sick if you drink alcohol. It's not the answer to quitting but it will get you thru those times when you start talking yourself into giving social drinking one more try. And good luck to you.

Thank you.

Things get worse before they get fantabulous.💃

I don't even want to drink. I just want to live...

It's weird how you can look around at people and wonder how they can even live normal lives and not know how to do that.

Because you aren't normal.

I know that for sure hahaha

Can't wait to be weird and live life to its fullest.

Right??

Actually, I think no one is living a normal life. We're all emotional wrecks and feel out of place and feel like we're the only one. (I think family television has made this problem worse, BTW) Everyone I know well is fucked up.

Makes the disaster area feel like home.

Best of luck on your recovery mate, actually I'm new in this forum and I was seeking help for my recovery and things I have to do to keep away from my addiction. I really hope we share some thoughts about your recovery because I'm planning to go on a rehab one of these days.

Care to tell us what you're struggling with? I have pretty extensive experience with IV opiates and cocaine and drinking alcohol and limited experience with recovery.

So I've been home a week. I have until Wednesday till I get my appointment to see if I can get into this treatment program. I must say I have been spending way too much time on here. They say its not quitting drinking that's hard but learning to live that's the hard part. I would have to agree.
My plan if I don't get into this program right away, or have to wait is to volunteer at the shelter/ soup kitchen. I think helping others in need will help me get the hell out of this rut/whatever the hell is going on depressive state.

I need to be around humans and I don't know how.

That's a start.

Good start volunteering, perhaps you could also try joining a community gardening club, or something akin... or some kind of artists guild for local artists.. whatever you do, enjoy it and again Good luck!

Ya know, one of the things I like about AA is some of their slogans. The one that comes to mind is this:

'Fake it til you make it'

To me this means that you can pretend to be one way until the day comes that you're just that way. It has to do with breaking the habit. If you just pretend you don't care to drink, someday you won't have to pretend. You just won't care to drink.

I'm not saying that's the only thing to do, it's just a little trick I use myself, when I'm feeling low.

I also think that you volunteering somewhere is the thing to do. Nothing helps me more, to put things in perspective, than seeing others worse off than myself. Plus, it just makes you feel good to help others.

I know it's really hard right now. Just don't give up. You're a strong woman. You can beat this thing. And don't forget, you are much loved.

When I was first volunteering at my local food pantry serving food a guy came in who I knew. He had been a former adult leader at the boy scout camp where I worked. He was slightly mentally disabled I think but was overall a nice guy. I felt really weird about it but I smiled at him and called him by name. He recognized me and looked down with shame in his eyes.

Its been years since I've seen him there. I hope he found a way back to his feet but I don't know. I guess it helps to remind me you never know who is in need. This boisterous fun guy I remember leading Provo in camp songs ended up being in need in sin city. I wonder sometimes if I should have called him by name since it obviously caused him pain but I was happy that I could help him some when he was hungry.

Ya I think helping others in need and being selfless truly makes me feel good.. I'm not doing it for selfish purposes. I want to help.. But I think it will help alleviate the negativeness that's been in me for so long too.

And the selfishness.

I like making people laugh irl maybe I can do that when I'm serving up the grub.

Aw Turm. Just wana say that it's so awesome that you had the guts to goto detox and are continuing to seek treatment. I really do think that sometimes being away from everyday pressures is the ideal way to get the ball rolling on help. It also gives you perspective on your life. Definitely keep at it.

Volunteering will be amazing. From personal experience, it is one of the few things that was able to pull me out of my darkest moments. Volunteering is such a beautiful way to connect with life and others, that is usually free from pretense. Gotta say, real awesome that you're doing all of it. Cheers, girl!
