Working on step one today.. Ugh..

Lol time shit gets real.

Change is good, if life doesn't change than I won't get to where I want to be.

Yay life!!

Yay uncomfortable emotions!! Love you!!

I guess I have to file a missing person's report on the ex. No one has heard from him since last Oct., which is very unusual. He is a drunk and a pill head. His last known residence was under the bridge (no joke).

No one wants him around. No one really cares about him. It's more of an obligation and duty. He let that shit control his life and now he has no life.

Stay strong. Don't let that happen to you, turm.

That's rough, I know those feels...I have a couple family members that are in the exact same spot. It's really rough at first but then the desire for empathy kind of fades like memories.

The choices people make eh.

It's scary when you think about it..I could end up that way.. So could some of us here.. I hope that never happens.

You should try to surround yourself with people that don't drink. My new roommate rarely drinks, maybe once every two weeks. It makes me feel dumb to sit on the couch and slurp down 6 beers on a weeknight when he is on the other couch drinking water or soda. I've been able to seriously curb my drinking as a result, and it feels awesome. I was drinking every single night for a while, but now I don't even want alcohol, no more cravings or anything. Its nice!

Turm- I'm really excited for your progress and hope you can keep it up. Waking up without hangovers is worth it!!

Thanks for all the support you ladies and guys. You're too awesome.

I have been surrounding myself with other people who are in recovery on a daily basis. It's like medicine. I am at a plateau when it comes to the happy gravy train I e been riding though. It's time to piss or get off the pot.

Been really down the last few days.. Alot of self hatred returning because of it.

The fear.. It's a good fear.. A reminder, a good kick in the ass.

I hope I can do this.

I can.

So tonight I finally told my oldest daughter where I have been going every night.

I was taking her to a friends house for a sleepover.. And we were talking because we always do.. She is 11. I said.."so do you wanna know where I'm going every night?" Because she asks to come sometimes.. And she said "yes". I said.."I'm going to a place to help me to stop drinking alcohol." It was quiet and I was paying attention to the road.. Then I feel this little hand touch my arm. And I look at her sitting in the passenger seat. Her head tilted to the side with a big empathetic smile on her face..she had a sparkle in her eyes.

Omg. She said she was proud of me.. That I was trying to get better.. It was like she was an old soul or an angel or something..

No one in my family says anything or speaks to me or supports me and now I have opened up to the most important person in my life and I feel overjoyed..
True love.
Acceptance.
A purpose.
I will never drink again.

Now I will tell her sister tomorrow and am prepared for a different reaction. Although they are twins they are polar opposites.
But still loving compassionate all the same.

Good on you for being sober. Ive been around AA/NA in and out for the last couple years, so if you ever need some advice or help or just a like minded person to talk to by all means hit me up. Dont ever get complacent or over confident with sobriety, because your addiction is out there waiting for you to do just that. Ive personally seen people with many years, even decades, relapse because they get too over confident in sobriety. Hell the last time I relapsed I hooked up with a woman that had just relapsed after 8 years sober. She had a very well paying job at a law firm, had a great apartment, lots of money and just an overall great life. When I went to rehab again a month and a half later she was already there and had lost the job, she had blown through her savings (which she said was decent 5 figures), and was homeless and back to turning tricks. Shit falls apart VERY quick when you develop another habit after sobriety. Theres no easing into it like when you first started forming an addiction, your mind goes straight back into junky mode and only gets worse.

"Alcohol's Disastrous Promise"

I have some promises I'll make to you
If you will do what I want you to
The more that you consume of me
The more then will your losses be
Here are the promises to you I make
And I promise, the promises to never break

I promise to take your money, your home
And all you can get in the way of a loan
I'll take your character, your reputation, too
Your good name I'll take from you

Your friends I'll take from you one day
Your family from you I'll turn away
I'll take your car, I'll take your wealth
I'll take your job, I'll take your health

I'll take your watch, I'll take your chain
I'll cause you to stay out in the rain
I'll take your credit, I'll take your bail
I'll cause you to sleep in a dirty jail

I'll cause you regret, remorse, and pain
I'll cause your name to go down in shame.
I'll bring you misery, I'll bring you woe
I'll bring you trouble more than you know

I'll take your clothes and pawn them too
The necessities of life, I'll take from you
I'll take from you days, I'll take from you years
I'll double the flow of your bitter tears

I'll take your heart, give you one of stone
I'll cause you to walk through life alone
I'll take away your desire to live aright
Your light of day, I'll turn to night

I'll cause you to dishonor your mother and dad
I'll take all the pleasure you could have had
I'll turn your love for your friends to hate
Your desire to repent will come too late

Your road to despair for you I will pave
I'll cause you to fill a premature grave
I'll put you in an institution for the insane
Your normal thinking I'll not let you gain

I'll cause you to murder your best friend
I'll trouble your mind to the very end
I'll bring you contention, I'll bring you strife
I'll finish you by taking your life

This clip defines exactly how I feel in my recovery right at this point... I'm sure there are alot who can identify.
I am the cop obviously.

Trapped in my head without freedom of change.. Although I know it's there why can't I do anything to save myself!!?

Ugh.

"Cinderella Search"

On the rebound, fumbling all the lines
The light at the end of the bottle - alcoholic alphabet
Through the looking glass the proof in my own reflection
Five senses down and reeling on the Cinderella search
On the rebound, fumbling all the lines
Decay on the vertical hold with a horizontal aim
Conversation needs translation
Three dimensions down dissolving on the Cinderella search, Cinderella search

On the rebound, fumbling all the lines
Dreaming bartenders, bourbon and saxophone
Out of luck, out of charm, out the game of rejections in a cigarette city
Only courting the homing of direction on the Cinderella search, Cinderella search

But the Samaritan of the heartbroken, heartbroken
Swam through the nicotine seize, and we exchanged the kiss of life
Resurrection in a trance, the model, the Grail, in a Marquee of promises
I touched the dream, I hold the dream, I have the dream
To end the Cinderella search, Cinderella search, oh no more, no more!

Exposing bedside manners on a work extension
Awaiting development with paranoid Polaroid eyes, Polaroid eyes

The footman memorised the number
But the prince still holds both the slippers
And would you leave a palace for a bedsit
And Canterbury Tales, Canterbury Tales?

Maybe it was infatuation or the thrill of the chase
Maybe you were always beyond my reach and my heart was playing safe
But was that love in your eye I saw or the reflection of mine?
I'll never really know for sure, you never really gave me time
Give me time, won't you give me that time!

Welcome back to the circus
Welcome back to the circus
Welcome back to the circus

I always use the cue sheets but never the nets
Always the cue sheets but never the nets
Never the nets, never the nets
Nevertheless, nevertheless, nevertheless, nevertheless, nevertheless

Welcome back to the circus!
