My Husband Killed Bambi's Mother
Seriously, the doe he got was pregnant. Too early in the season for how far she was so the babe would have probably died anyways.

Why was he hunting doe? I'm hoping it was Doe Season, and not careless hunting. Either way, that's pretty fucked up. Nah, I'm pretty sure the baby would have lived. Until your husband shot and killed the mother.

and for the record, bambi wasn't in the womb when mom was shot.

Thats fucked up. I can't stand it when people kill animals for fun. I hope you eat it or something. It's still sad that the doe was pregnant though.

it is deer season, and that's not really fucked up at all. I would rather eat meat that was killed humanly and born and grew up wild then buy meat from an animal treated cruely and raised for food. and no the baby wouldn't have lived. we have such a problem with over population of deer here that many actually starve to death, a baby born too early has no chance around here. that's why they encourage hunting the does instead of the bucks, better for population control.

we don't hunt for fun. we hunt for food. we process the animals ourselves and use everything. although we didn't use the fetus, we buried it.

you can't get buck tags around here. they would rather you kill doe because it's better for population control. they have doe tags that are $7 and any deer tags that you can use for buck or doe that are $17, if that tells you how much they push doe hunting. we buried the baby.

they feel pain when being shot to death... killing the natural predators in the first place to justify killing the deer for the sake of population control is pretty weak too. its just an endless cycle of killing things and making excuses for it, when its really just humans totally fucking up the environment in every way and making shitty excuses and rationalizations so they don't feel as bad. you might say that eating a wild creature is morally better than eating a factory farmed creature but that is still just murdering animals and eating them, and if everyone hunted wild animals there would be no wild animals period (aside from the fact that they are severely depleted already because of humans), so that is no better, the only real morally superior option is to ease your burden on the planet, stop being a destroyer and make the simple but substantial choice to not eat meat but yea... i speared a pregnant spiny lobster once and it made me feel pretty bad, killing shit is fucked up

Deer is good meat
I'm partial to moose but any venison will do. And for the most part, these animals die pretty quickly from being shot with powerful hunting rifles with skilled hunters. I wouldn't call it inhumane... perhaps unsettling or 'bad T.V.' but not inhumane.

get over it, if you eat meat the one way is def a better option then the other. an as I had nothing to do with the killing off the natural predator as I wasn't born yet I don't really feel remorse for doing something I didn't do. You can say anything is a shitty excuse, that doesn't change anything. We do what we do, if you are comfortable with what you do to offset as much as you can then kudos to you and anyone else in the same boat.

Excellent.

That's not for certain, even you said so. I was just giving nature the benefit of the doubt here. I'm glad that the baby was buried. Thanks for the clarification on the rest. Gives everyone a bigger, more clear picture.

fetus might be tasty...who knows.
its not really bad to eat it if its already dead... might even be better that way. But returning it to the earth is good too, at least it will rejoin the cycle.
