Alex Auld as a backup to Price...

*sigh*

I really hope he gets it this time, he's already excelled at all levels (that one year we finished 1st in the East and Price went to the All-Star game) but I guess competing with Halak has been fucking with his head..

Hopefully with Auld knowing his role as a backup and Price's number one role is solidified he'll excel again..

Or Auld will have a career year

trading away halak was an extremely smart move by the habs imo. price is a solid goalie with a great future, and halak is more likely than not going to be a flash in the pan (see jose theodore and cristobal huet). just look at mason in columbus, dominates one seasons then shits the bed the next. so instead of taking a stupid gamble on halak the habs got a bunch of prospects and still have a solid situation in nets.

sens signed sergie gonchar and let volchenkov go (who signed for less than gonchar in NJ)... not sure how i feel about this but at least now we have a scary blueline on the PP with karlsson and gonchar back there on the point. hopefully gonch can feed some sick break-out passes out of the zone to spezz and alfy as well. i will miss volchenkov though the man had heart and character. he has led the league in blocked shots for basically his whole career. he laughs at the notion of pain.

i miss hockey!!!

Halak has salary arbitration rights and was gonna get a huge raise we couldnt afford (ended up signing four years 15M$) and Price has potential, he's already exelled at all professional levels, that one year we finished first in the east and he played in the all star game,maybe he'll be more confident now and play better feeling bonafide number one.

gonchar is getting old and is injury prone, but hell i'd have him on my team, he's an asset during the playoffs

man it's still like a hundred or so days until october 7

so far the Devils and the Kings have been the front runners, with the Islanders making a strong bid too, but after many seasons in Atlanta and almost no playoff experiences I don't think he wants to play for a shitty team again.

Come on you guys, I know it's the off season but we're merely a month away from training camp....somebody say something about their hockey team or anything in general!

How do you feel about Nabokov going to the KHL for 4 years? (coincidentally the next winter Olympics is in Russia in 4 years)

Kovalchuk deal? Was it just pushing it too much? Who was right and who was wrong?

Who are you watching out for next year? Tampa Bay is pushing people aside and making it's way from the back burner Stevie Y is re-shaping that team good. They got Guy Boucher coaching them, last year he coached for the first time at the AHL level and brought the Canadiens's farm team far into the playoffs, developed prospects (PK Subban) really well. He's going to be a great coach mark my words.

And just a shot in the dark here, before the pre-season even starts who do you expect in next year's Stanley Cup Finals?

I'm going to go with the Habs (obviously) and Sharks!!
