Thats awesome. I have always thought that 'real' strength is strength against your own body weight.

I think you would enjoy Parkour, especially if you liked the video above. The workouts are intense, it's all body weight and it's better than just running because you are jumping and climbing all over the place rapidly. I took a class and there were some big strong dudes who couldn't didn't have the stamina or flexibility to take it. Strength is relative and depends on what you train for. You can't deny that someone is strong who goes to strongman comps or powerlifters, but that's what they train for. It's all about how you utilize the components of fitness because with each sport or goals, utilize different areas of those components.

HIIT is supposidly an awesome workout, but can be tough as hell. I don't trust myself with counting the intervals or ensuring I'm staying within the confines so try using a machine at first if possible. A lot of the new ones have interval training routines built into them.

I've only done a dumbed down version of Interval Training and have lost over 600 cals in 25 minutes! Not to mention the wonders it does for cardio.

be careful doing high intensity work running. running is pretty hard on the body, if you havn't been running consistently for a while you could injure yourself (runner's knee, ITBS, shin splints, stress fracture, ect) pretty easily by pushing hard too regularly.

Go big or go home!
In all seriousness running is the best cardio work out, but you can injure yourself, I have had problems with my knees for a while, and running through the pain, is not the answer, but using injury, strain or fear of injury is just being gay. a good solid consistent run, is about as healthy as its gets.

id rather be gay than injured. you can't improve when you can't run

frequency rather than intensity is the key to run improvement.

run lots. mostly easy, sometimes hard.

I tried for a long time to gain and lose, so I'm just losing. I'm down 40lbs, Ive got another 10ish before i start lifting again. I have a pretty good base, and i'm praying on muscle memory. I'm only down 15lbs on my bench press in my 4 months of heavy weight cutting... I didn't lose the 40lbs in four months.. a year.

I like to run in the rain and on the grass. Pavement and cement both piss me off.

Just came back from doing a dumbed-down version of the 300 workout. I still didn't knock out all the reps, and I can't remember the last time I've been so disoriented after a workout.

The full 300 is as follows, all done without a break:

* 25 pull ups
* 50 deadlifts [135lbs]
* 50 push ups
* 50 box jumps or vertical jumps (24” high box)
* 50 floor wipers (Push up position, moving in a single knee to the chest at a time)
* 50 single arm clean and press with dumbbell [35lbs]
* 25 pull ups

...Christ.

The one I did was this:

* 25 pull ups
* 50 box jumps
* 50 bench press leg raises (25 each side) [90lbs]
* 25 push ups
* 25 single arm clean and press with dumbbell or kettlebell (12/13 each side) [25lbs]
* 25 deadlifts [70lbs]
* 25 close grip shoulder raises [50lbs]
* 25 pull ups

On both pull-ups, the shoulder raises, and the bench press leg raises, I was unable to get to 25 (only got to about 16-19 on average), AND I had about 60 seconds rest in between exercises. Goddamn.

This workout has opened my eyes, and has finally gotten me out of the plateau I've hit.
