Once you get to a certain point it's almost inevitable that you're gonna get a little vocal; you start putting everything you have into damn heavy lifts! I find it helps, to be honest. That being said, the guys that scream are a little bit too much... the only time I think that is warranted is during those World's Strongest Man competitions.

Try this ab workout, does me good. No rest in between!
-10 crunches, pushing your hands to reach your feet. -10 side crunches, for each side. -Lay on your back with your legs straight up in the air and reach for your feet, 10 times. -Lay flat and with your legs completely straight and together, lift them to a 45* angle and then lower back down WITHOUT touching the ground. 10 times -10 full body crunches You'll be feelin the burn mon! Oh and deadlifts, maybe even just stiff-legged deadlifts. They are key for core strength.

doing olympic presses and stuff on an exercise ball is really good for your core too.. i used to do a lot of my dumbell ish on exercise balls.
just like suck in and kind of flex your abs while you're sitting on it doing your thing, and try to keep your core as quiet [still] as possible. functional strength is always the best.

I really enjoy the gym and the specific effectiveness of using machines, but most of the time I use my weights at home, or do against my own body weight stuff. Push ups, sit ups/core exercises, pull ups off the back of the stairs, squat jumps, jumping jacks, calf raises etc
I just got these 'Perfect Pushup' things, they are great. Its basically a handle that twists, so you hit a wider ranger of muscles each push-up. It also gives a greater range of motion up and down. You can do basically any push-up you would without them. |

I've been hittin the gym more recently. I'm down to 3 minute miles on the elliptical and the bike, which is pretty cool.
I can't go terrible long at that speed, like 4 miles or so, but still, it's an improvement. And I'm always seeing people trying not to stare, which kind of turns me off of going to the gym. Self image issues can be a bitch. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ovw6ko_Efvc&hl=en_US &fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScree n" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptacc ess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ovw6ko_Efvc&hl=en_US &fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="a lways" allowfullscreen="tru e" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I've been focusing on core strength with my personal trainer. Today pretty much kicked my ass. Did a lot of variations of planks and cable machines.

I go around the time HS gets out cause im a super creep and the place fills up with spring chickens... but the whole time Im on the treadmill telling myself "quit being a creep quit being a creep quit being a creep" and i still get all stalky with my eyes. Everyone there is self conscious too, people usually go cause they're too big or too small or too old etc etc etc I mean that's what the fuckin place is there for. If you keep a regular schedule with it, I guarantee sooner or later you're gonna find out that youve inspired a lot of people there. Visible results or not, persistence is what is inspiring. |

Nigga you gotta warm up first!
Headin out in a few hours to the Y. This fucking place is the size of my old elementary school but the weight/cardio rooms are relegated to a back corner and everything's so cramped I can barely fit between the machines. The building is all hallways. Lame.

Yeah mang you aint gotta go all out, you're more likely to get pissed about it in that case.
I just hit the treadmill or elliptical for 15-30 then do a few weights exercises then bounce Specific goals are really losing the chicken legs and working on shoulders/back. I need to get my legs and back strong so that I may plant enough yams to provide for my wives until the next season! |
