New car oil changes

So i just bough a 2010 Hyundai Elantra a few weeks ago.

Do I really need to do a 1000 mile oil change? and then then at 3000?>

I used synthetic in my old car and was wondring if i should spend the money on a change that will be drained soon anyway.

2010?

Factory warranty.

'nuff said.

Jump the hoops, may come in handy down the road.

And yes, the 1K change is to flush out the shit left over from production. Dealerships may offer synthetic oil with a 10K-15K interval but let them do it so as not to fuck up that warranty.

Also check it on a regular basis. Some new vehicles straight from the factory are about a 1/2 quart short because if they short 2 million cars 1/2 quart each they save a million quarts of oil. Seems crazy but it happens.

Wal Mart sells oil really cheap. Non-synthetic 10W-30 is about $12 for a 5 1/2 quart bottle. As long as the manufacturer recommends it, I would rather waste $15 on an oil change, than risk deteriorating the car prematurely.

well your first mistake was buying an elantra, but you're in it now, so best do what the owner's manual says. also, don't get oil at walmart. in fact, don't ever buy anything at wal-mart

what is wrong with the Elantra besides the shitty handling that i realized after driving it off the lot?

don't listen to the haters. i've got an 07 hyundai elantra and it drives just fine. Handles fine, pretty good turn radius, reliable. From what i've heard hyundais made in the later 2000's don't even have any of the long term problems older hyundais had.

Lol the oil dude. Regardless, I was just trying to illustrate the point that the cost of taking a chance and changing the oil is relatively cheaper than fixing engine troubles down the road.

yea ill just do all the dealer shit in the first two years of the lease for sure. If i do the reguar maintenance they say free oil changes, but if they don't give me synthetic oil like the finance manager told me, ill say fuck em, doing my own oil isn't likely to fuck with a warranty. I didn't buy the extended bumper to bumper 10 year thing. doubt itll be worth it. if it's worth it they wouldn't sell it

just like rustproffing, paint protection and w/e garbage they try and upsell
