I'm partial to Mazda but they really don't make a big sedan, the 6 is a good sized car but it's still considered a compact, they do handle quite well and there is a HUUUUUGE aftermarket for the entire Mazda line.

Then again, if you don't mind upping the budget a tad...

That Mercedes will be mine some day...

In the meantime, doing more research into the Acura, Subaru, and Lancer Evo.

Don't really need AWD as this car will probably be in Illinois 99% of the time, aka no hills/mountains to tame. It is nice to have though. I honestly do like hatchbacks/wagons for their practicality, too bad they're all just so damn ugly.

As for speed as long as it has a decent 0-60 and can hit 80-90 mph without worry I'll be happy. MPG is the biggest factor for me on the engine, as it'll primarily be a commuter car.

Decided to up the budge to 25k to get a little more amenities, though honestly the Sonata is still the no. 1 pick so far, but I am looking into the suggestions. The Genesis is still a little too pricey to be considered. Thanks for the help so far though.

Hopefully I'll pick something up in 1-3 weeks.

The Evo is not the car for economy or commuting, with a manufacturer recommended service every 5k and about 15mpg around town.

If you're not overly bothered about preowned or a few years old, I'd get a nice german wafter second hand. With your budget I'd imagine you could get a fairly loaded low mileage BMW E60 or Merc W203. Much nicer than Hyundai's current offerings (imo), and probably better to drive.

Get the Evo if you can though, it'll be infinitely more fun than anything else.

Maintenance costs are what'll kill you in a BMW or a Benz, the only way to get their free maintenance is lease the fucker.

Subaru, for what they are, get shit mileage. The boxer engine, like the rotary, is not very fuel efficient. Bullet proof and powerful yes, cheap to drive, no.

Watch me make Nun's head explode...

How about the STS?

Maxima?

Jyaaaaaaaag?

For what it's worth, for that budget you could likely get either of those preowned from a dealer with an extended manufacturer warranty- plus you'd spend less on maintenance for either of those, than you'd lose in depreciation on a brand new Hyundai.

Boxer engines ftw, however the new Outback is ucking fugly. Agree on the Jaaaags too, considered shitting the budget and putting a down payment on an XFR, Komp?

^ /drool

So i got my schedule for the next 3 months in order, and from june 8 to aug 20 i'm going to be flying all over the US, not even sure if i'm going to have a few days at home. Looks like my car shopping is postponed.

PS thought this was a funny jab at the still lackluster hybrid technology.

Fords are great until the plastic interior panels all come loose and the body goes rusty (ie about 2-3 yrs from new).

Hopefully he didnt get one of the "sissy" cars he was contemplating. He needs a Chevy Silverado or F-250 Turbo Diesel. As I've said a million times MEN drive friggin TRUCKS not little pansy cars. Only cars you should ever see a guy driving is american muscle cars or European sports cars....i.e. Porsche 911 Turbo.

Schedule's been too erratic, not home long enough to enjoy buying one now.

Still leaning towards the Hyundai Sonata Turbo, 6.5 sec 0-60 mph with 33 mpg is friggin phenomenal. I think i'll wait for the 2012 models to trickle though, they seem to have some nice little upgrades.

lol @ shitty american muscle, sorry but I don't need 300 hp to go 10 over the speed limit or have it in the shop more than i drive it.
