No such thing as best QB ever.

The 1985 Bears were much better.

Good points.

No, they had 2-3 good years...The 49ers sustained greatness over a decade...

I thought we were talking about the best individual team since you specified the 1989 49er's. The Bears were a one year wonder.

There is always the best at something. People of course disagree. In boxing, for example, I think Ali IS the greatest, but many would argue Sonny Liston was better. On the other hand, no one would say Tyson is better than Ali or even Forman. So you can at least narrow it down to two and then whatever decision you think is correct is really almost subjective. I think Brady's leadership, his rings, and huge numbers will say it all by the time everything is said and done though. Everything will be there and more by the time he leaves. He at least has 4 or even 5 more good years left. They just got to keep a good offensive line around him for sure.

And Mathew Stafford threw for over 5000 yards. Keep things in perspective.

That's why I asked wellfleation about Sonny. I din't see Jurgenson's name on Grieves' list.

I made that list on the fly, can't believe I left out Elway...for the 1990-00, he could fit in the 1980-90 as well...

Elway - Simply a brain fart, should be on the list
Moon - Did great things in the CFL, for the oliers, vikes and seahawks but no superbowls so not best of the decade, he would fall in the next bracket, great but not legendary...
Ken Anderson - same deal as moon, gets extra points for staying with the same team his whole carreer, would go in the 1970-80, great not legendary...
Lamonica - Did great things in the AFL, 3 straight championships, but post merger, getting replaced by Stabler who got the job done knocks him down a bit...
Fouts - Air Croyle superstar, knocked cause the chargers are the chargers and don't win superbowls, hard to get behind guys whos INT rate is as close to his TD rate, most people will remember him as an announcer than a player...
Jurgenson - I love this guy, he was mike vick before vick with a better arm and accuracy, love that his name is "Christian Adolph"....this quote is one of my favorite by a football player...
"All I ask of my blockers is four seconds. I try to
stay on my feet and not be forced out of the
pocket. I beat people by throwing, not running.
I won't let them intimidate me into doing
something which is not the best thing I can do."
