Flat bench grip (thumb)

What is the proper method of grip?

I switched back to using my thumb around the bar after watching a guy demonstrate the 'correct' way.

I did have the bar fall on my pec once too.

a normal grip is with your thumb wrapped around it.

suicide grip would be with no thumbs.

Well is there any minute advantage to using the no thumb? You get like 1% more power or what?

Looks like the guy's using the normal grip there.

No real advantage or disadvantage Rubix, I think people use it as more of a comfort thing. If you're going to do it you'd probably be best to stick to using light weight or a smith machine though.

the description said he's using a suicide grip.

I wouldn't do it though. Everything I've been taught about bench press says to use a normal grip. From squeezing the bar as hard as you can, to keeping your wrists in lines with your elbows, to attempting to pull the bar apart while you push, suicide grip seems detrimental to all of this.
