Thumbs up Hunters Thread...trolls need not apply.

Got this buck last Sunday night. About 6:30 pm, 35 yard shot with compound bow (Oneida AeroForce 65b draw weight)...biggest buck in my life, 11 pointer. I was shaking so bad....he'll be on the wall. Probably 160-170 class, has yet to be scored.

Old buck like that probably grind most of it for chili and make deer jerky out of the rest. The old ones meat tends to be strong so if you grind it with beef soot (fat) makes good chili meat.

thats neat. im actually not anti hunting as much as i am anti gun. i dont mind using em to kill animals as much as i do when people kill each other needlessly.

I'm not anti-hunt either, as long as you're hunting for food. Hunting for a rack is bullshit.

Hunting things like deer is good. There is an abundance. Hunting things like wolves, bears, anything that isn't in abundance is lowball.

I'd rather 500 humans get sliced in a blender than 1 grey wolf.

I also agree with the general sentiment of this thread before SoK came and ruined it.

It is 12 points but that little one won't count on the scorecard, that's a deduction for pope & young.

I would like to do something with the hide but my g/f aint gonna go for a deer hide in the house...I'm lucky enough she'll let me mount it and put it on the wall.

I've tried tanning the hides before but always screw them up...i need someone to teach me the correct way. Every time I do it all the damn hair falls out and end up throwing it away.

I do not hunt but all of my friends do, so I get lots of meat!

for tougher cuts I like to braise/stew them. I enjoy the gamey-er-ness of an older buck.

So u wanted to keep the fur on? I usually wanna take it off...and it's the same story over here...i hafta do all the gross stuff before anybody gets wind of what i'm up to!! They always think i'm using the kitchen sink...or tub to soak stuffs!! I do...and clean up so well, they kinda know i've been playing. There's triks for sure when de-furring or keeping it furry!!

Were u around when i did the Wolves and racoon? What did u do when u tried last time?

Killing your own meat is still far more humane than buying it from the grocery store (and thus contributing to the factory farming industry).

I've always thought it would be cool to learn to hunt. I wouldn't kill anything, but I'd like to get in real close and snap some good pix. It would be badass to have those tracking and stalking skills. I'd feel like a total old school mountain man.
