Anyone here run?

I went running tonight for the first time in years. I ran about 3 miles, nice easy pace. It felt really good. About 15 years ago, I was all about running. Used to do 10-13 mile runs at least once a week, and a couple 5-milers after work. Kept me in great shape.

Well, I had forgotten about how the bouncing effects of running move things along through the lower GI tract, and by the last 1/4 mile, I was pinching my ass cheeks together to keep from shitting myself.

Good times.

Best way to shit before you put on your backpack for the day is after your all packed up and ready (maybe you've eaten and had some coffee) will be to run up the nearest ridge... between the gravity of running and the muscle tension, you'll be ready for business by the time to reach the crest.

As far as advice goes, that's good shit...

run from the police!

deadhead94 02-02-2015 09:24 AM

I do 5-10km a day depending on the weather and how I'm feeling. Lately its been less because of all the snow and it being cold as fuck when i go out.

The Rev 02-02-2015 03:36 PM

The weather here has been ideal, actually. Ran in a Tshirt and shorts last night. Not too bad, soreness-wise, today. Usually, if I haven't run in a long time, my thighs will be sore as shit, even after a short run. I think the walking time in the mountains has helped, a lot.

I've been trying to go for a run occationally, but it is cold as balls here so that tends to be a bit of a put off. Especially since my lungs are shit enough as is, and the super cold air doesnt help.

My favorite way to do it though, has been to run down this street parallel to the beach, then afterwards just chill and watch the sunset/meditate for a bit. Definitely gonna do it more when it warms up.
I've been doing jumprope for cardio occasionally lately too. Works pretty well, though is surprisingly pretty hard on the legs. Even more-so than jogging IME.

That said, props on 3 miles Rev. I can only run like 1 still right now and im pretty f--in pooped afterwards, and that is like jog-walk-jog too. Not even straight nonstop running. So yeah man, good shit.

I like how the first time Rev runs in years, he can make it 3 miles. I run for the first time in years, and it's all "*Ok.. *gasp* I made it what.. *gasp* a quarter mile?"

silverleaf 02-05-2015 05:18 PM

Rev, is there any connection between this thread and your recent G&S thread?

The Rev 02-05-2015 05:49 PM

No more connection than that between any two threads of mine. I was motivated to go because I was feeling depressed and figured I could use a good endorphin buzz. Helped a bit. I was home all weekend (couldn't get out to hike) and I was getting cabin fever.

I dig it.

silverleaf 05-07-2015 08:47 PM

Also, yeah. I've been doing a lot of running recently.

Starting probably two weeks after you posted this thread, as a matter of fact. I don't think there was a lot of connection between the two either, coincidentally, but maybe -- the attitude adjustment was definitely something I was after. You're right on, there's about a million benefits realized since I been going. It's not saying much, but I'm probably presently in the best shape of my life. I go running 3-5 times a week, I'd wager to say I'm averaging maybe five miles -- I'll go anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour depending how I'm feeling and what song is in my ears when I'm rounding the bend.

Call me cuckoo but I like to get a little stoned before hitting the pavement. Is it just me?

not running but biking. every day after work i smoke one up and do a big loop around the neighborhood, just bike as fast as i can, ease up a little, rinse, repeat until i dont feel like it anymore, but i do try to go longer/faster every time to get that "runner's high"

Bondi Bad Dog 05-08-2015 01:21 AM

that's why it's called 'the runs' or 'the trots'.

The Rev 05-08-2015 04:34 AM

Yeah, I've been biking a lot to and from work. My legs are getting all sinewy and hard. LOL

Canuck Wisdom 05-08-2015 03:50 PM

Aw gross Shadow, thanks for reminding me! ;)

silverleaf 05-18-2015 03:59 PM

And I blew my ankle out. Looks like I'll be doing a lot less running these next few weeks. FML.

moketweed 05-18-2015 04:05 PM

I ran to the toilet today and then ironically enough I had the runs......
