The Ballad of Willie D
alright so I've been listening to a lot of Woody Guthrie again and I love his style of folk music, that kind of outlaw, rambling type of folk music. and honestly the inspiration for this came while I was on the john and for some reason I remembered the name of that play or whatever "Annie go get your gun".
So this is a short simple little folk ballad I did and I really wrote about myself, I feel like it fits me so very well. Let me know what you think, if you please. The Ballad of Willie D Willie you better get you your gun Said Willie you’d better go and get you your gun That killing machine that you use just for fun Willie you better go and get your gun Willie there’s trouble at your door I said Willie there’s all kinds of trouble at your door Some man you don’t know called your woman a whore I said Willie there’s some trouble at your door Now Willie was a god fearin man Poor Willie was a decent and god fearin man But he walked out that door with his gun in his hand And Willie was a god fearin man They took Willie’s job and his home Yes they took poor Willie’s job and his home Left him to to roll over and die all alone Yes they took his job and his home One day Willie met him a girl Yeah one day Ol’ Willie met himself a nice girl She took him in and he fell in love with her Yes ol’ Willie done found him a girl Now Willie’d never harm him no soul I said Willie he never would harm no soul But if you were to harm his woman or kin Willie's gonna do you right in Now Willie’d give his life for that girl Now Willie’d give his poor ol life for that girl He didn’t give a damn about the rest of the world But he’d give his poor life for that girl Now that man had to lose his life That rotten son of a bitch had to lose his life Insulted the girl that Willie would make his wife That bastard was gonna lose his life Willie better aim for his heart Said Willie, you’d better aim straight for his heart Blow his ass away and tear him apart Ol’ Willie aimed straight for his heart Willie they got you on the run Said Willie them police got you on the run Took a man’s life in cold blood with your gun Now Willie they got you on the run The lawmen they finally tracked him down Said them lawmen done and tracked him down Picked up his scent with an old blood hound Now they done and tracked Poor Willie down Willie he died all alone Poor Willie died on the run and alone He’d rather shoot himself then in a cell be thrown Willie died poor sad and alone edit-with the help from Scatter I am slightly adjusting it

Sometimes it's so good people don't know what to say
![]() I like it and can hear it in a 'Woody G' voice. Not completely his style, but I certainly see where the womb of the song is. Thanks man....here's to you dying surrounded by friends and family though, or some sense of not feeling alone in this world when that time comes.
